I always go to a banks financial reviews and never ever buy anything, even if I did want it I would go back and get it later. To be happy you need to make someone happy.0 -
I'm with Lloyds and I had a financial revue. They couldn't beat anything I already had but I did get to give them my latest phone number and update a few records, so it wasn't a total waste.
I've seen Lloyds on the recieving end of a moan quite a few times but I'll be staying with them for one reason. The staff in the local branch (Yate, Bristol) have always been helpfull and I've never had a problem. The ability to walk into a local branch and speak to a human being in plain english is well worth it.
I know there are better current accounts around, but not with a local branch.
I know they try to sell you stuff, but you only have to say no once and they stop.
And I know they are profit hungry evil monsters, but so are all the others.

I got a 6 month repeat (still no fee) on the credit card, and have recently upped my overdraft to £5000 temporarily to cover a little hiccup I had with my stoozing.
I recently received an invitation to attend another review - I'm just waiting until September (when the CRA reports are updated with my recent card cancellations) before I accept their kind invitation.
They aren't always a total waste of time, even if you are savvy enough to realise that the vast majority of the stuff they'll be trying to sell you will be (to quote Martin) pants. (And the only time I'll be wasting is theirs - my time would otherwise be spent in the pub)

Last time I went to a LTSB review they gave me a 6 month 0%, £0 fee balance transfer on £10,000 (the bank manager knew I was stoozing and still offered it to me,) and in addition offered me a £10K overdraft (even he was a little gobsmacked when the computer told him how much they were prepared to offer me. I only took £500 at the time.)

My local LTSB invited me to a review. They are actually a very good branch. I said to the manager "I really don't see the point of this review, I've already got the best deals on everything I need and I'm happy with what the bank offer me already."
"Ok, fine, I'll just update the system to say you've done your review" he said.Happy chappy0 -

I've only just started as an Account Manager after following this site for years - it's a bit weird in my brain thinking bank and anti-bank at the same time!
Yeah of course, when people come for a financial review, I try and sell them Lloyds stuff, but only if it's worth their while. You'd be amazed at the amount of people who have loans at 20% or credit cards with gigantic APRs and paying interest on who don't care and don't know!
At least with my job, I can save them money. Unfortunately, if I directed them all here, I'd lose my job!Premier League Baby!0 -
Well you certainly made it easy for him ,why did you bother?
I went along because the woman who booked it told me I had to attend it and got all funny when I said I couldn't see the point. So I agreed, plus I thought it might be quite entertaining to see what they would try to sell to me.Happy chappy0 -

She said you had to attend, not a request or an invitation, which bank is this,I would have rebelled, because I can. That is what worries me ,people being unable to say no,and that is their tacticsTo be happy you need to make someone happy.0
