Data Protection Act request.. How do I?

Got one, thanks Quiet Life.
For the benefit of anyone else reading the thread also wondering how to do a Subject Access Request there's a brief leaflet including a template letter produced by the Information Commissioner's Office (the goverernment) ...
Just to clarify - the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) is NOT the government but an independent statutory regulator. The rest of the advice given re subject access requests is correct and the maximum allowed fee is £10. If you don't get a satisfactory response with the information provided for by section 7 of the Data Protection Act within 40 days, you can raise a complaint with the ICO, who will investigate it for you and try to resolve the issue. It may help...;)0 -
Do not get what you want from this. You make a subject access request and lets say all phonecalls are recorded so they send you for the £10 fee a tape of someone saying what you said they said. Now what? You send the tape back to paypal as proof of a member of staff saying this. They will deal with it internally (maybe). You will never find what out what happened as it is an internal matter. I have no idea what you said to cause the member of staff to get so upset but lets hope you didn't swear or abuse them at any point otherwise whatever you want them to do may come tumbling back on you.0

I'll take the lack of reply as meaning that there is nothing to cite.0
