Badly resurfaced road + overtaking car = major stonechip damage

Obviously with your attitude you do not have any remote understanding of various methods of road resurfacing and bedding times, but aside from this the company who did the work put out notices advising of the safe speed limit, just because some moron does not take notice of this you cannot blame the construction company, as someone quite rightly said the dispute is between you and the speeder nobody else.Approach her; adore her. Behold her; worship her. Caress her; indulge her. Kiss her; pleasure her. Kneel to her; lavish her. Assert to her; let her guide you. Obey her as you know how; Surrender is so wonderful! to be honest if I came across someone dawdling at 10 mph on a 50 road even if there was chippings i'd overtake them too 10 mph is a joke, and as pointed is not enforceable, it's just an !!!! covering for the poor road surface. maybe if she was doing 30 or 40 like most other normal drivers the other car wouldn't have felt the need to get past the pathetically slow rolling roadblock. are you going to start suing lorry drivers you pass on the motorway if their wheel throws up a stone also? do you sit behind tractors for mile after mile incase you stonechip them when you pass?
Last road I was on with an advisory 10 mph for loose chippings the loose chipping went on for 6 miles are you trying to tell me youd drive at 10mph for 35-40 minutes to do a journey that should only take 6 or 7 minutes?0 -
I'd have overtaken you too, although I'd have passed more slowly, moved over and tried not to send chippings up as we all know thats what can happen.
It does seem like its purely down to the other driver really, I can't see how its the councils fault as they had a warning sign up and were in the process of clearing the chippings when it happened.0 -
They always do the roads that way round here.
The trick is to drive down the centre of the road, then they can't get past you.0 -
OP while we all feel for you that a rare car has been subject to stone chipping by a fellow commuter, your partner was doing 10mph (good that she was taking heed of advisory notice) on a 50mph road the overtaker may not have been driving in excess of the speed limit whilst she was doing 10mph the person behind her wouldnt of had the power under the bonnet to go from 10mph behind her to 50 mph in a split second to be beside her while it may have looked like the driver was speeding is because the other driver was increasing speed at full BHP (full throttle)of that car and pulling away whilst she was almost stationary. the coucil would of asssessed the road before hand for suitability of the surface being layed, our advice to you is that you have NO CLAIM against the council, as you have no reg of the offending stone chipping overtaker you have no avenue to chase him up and claim against him (although if you did his insurers would insist he's not at faul as its such a week claim), as i and other have aswell as you said that you better avenue of getting your car repaired would be to go through you insurance company by way of getting quotes from good repitable paint shops or try and have them detailed (although mopping them out will thin out the clear coat and base coat in that area is subject to fade as the uv will hit it stronger in that area especially if its a red car).
as like you if i had my dream car or rare car stone chipped to the extreme in the same manner i'd be hitting the roof and be well !!!!ed off, but in my mind i know its just one of those things that happen everyday to other people, and is a fact and a risk of driving a vehicle thesedays. id seek out the best paint shop and pay the top price for top quality paint job if the insurers dont want to pay full price then i would deal a fifty fiffty i pay half they pay half and all will be well again! then id have it scotchguarded to try and minamize more damage and risk of stone chips and accidental lightt key scrathes0 -
What car is it btw?The only "rare" 17 year old AWD Nissan I can think of is the GTiR.0

I stonechipped the door on a car that I'd had resprayed a few days earlier. That was from driving at about 30mph along a section that had had the "winter warn" (?) surfacing done. I just put it down as one of those things. I could have chosen to use another road instead if I'd been that bothered.Happy chappy0

Cefiro SE-4
Much less common than the Pulsar, and the engine is the correct way around.0 -

It wasn't me, though mine is black.
I'm aware of a few others over here, but they're all RWD versions owned by people on DriftWorks. I've yet to find anyone claiming to own an SE-4 over here.
I know there are only 5 or so in New Zealand, where the Cefiro is a lot more common.0
