I don't think I tried doing that but I will try, I can't do it today as I'm not at my daughters but I will try it the next time I am. Does this sometimes work if a password has not actually been set?Thanx

Just wondering if you actually managed to get the computer to work as I am getting the same message I think when we try to start our laptop
'NTLDR is missing'
and I am now trying to find an easy fixTypically confused and asking for advice0 -

I remember being at a friend's house when he had forgotten his admin password. He tried everything under the Sun and was literally typing away for hours. Then I suggested just leaving the password blank and hitting enter; it worked straight away. Needless to say, he turned a bright red colour:DI don't think I tried doing that but I will try, I can't do it today as I'm not at my daughters but I will try it the next time I am. Just to add I also had this ntldr fault once and fixed it by reconnecting my hard drive a couple of times. The drive itself was fine but you also have to watch out for the cables connecting them. I find that sometimes they can suffer with kinks in cramped towers. Maybe the op should not give up on the hard drive completely and have a go at plugging and unplugging the cables or even try and find a spare one to use as a replacement.0 -
