Accounts cannot be closed off at weekends because they are not working days.

At most, an account closure form can be printed as written authority, and sent off to service centre. It's either that, or go in during the week sometime.

You'll also need to take your debit card in, along with your chequebook if you have one.
Anything that I do say, is strictly my opinion :p

Santander are likely to aquire RBS English branches as NAB have pulled out (as of 4/06/10) BBVA do not appear to be serious contenders ;)

Santander are renowned for excellent customer service and always receive favourable reviews on this forum , so the advice is to keep the account open and await the Santander experience :T

You used the wrong smiley. I assume you meant to use the sarcastic one. I am sure you meant to use the sarcastic one.

Have you a link to this story?

I really won't be pleased to become an employee of Santander.

Well Santander and BBVA are both Spanish so it looks like you will be wearing a red blazer and answering to "Manuel" from Fawlty Towers

I am surprised that Danske Bank are not mentioned as they aquired Northern Bank from NAB in 2005

BBVA are more interested in Northern Rock

Santander are looking to increase their share of business accounts

    independent.co.uk/news/business/news/santander-set-to-win-1632bn-rbs-auction-1991818.html

"Banco Santander is keen to secure the RBS business because it addresses a significant weakness in its UK portfolio. The branches come with a large slug of business clients, something Santander's existing operations, including Abbey, Alliance & Leicester and parts of Bradford & Bingley, are notably light on"

    Good evening all,
A few weeks ago i supplied a thread regarding my recent problems with rbs. I decided to give them a call the other day to see whether my charges for the royalties gold account would be refunded to me due to not getting on with the benefits. I have noticed that they are more focused then ever on customer service due to mse info and online banking the 14 commitments or something. I spoke to a sales operator who has refunded my charges for me! That is much better customer services actually wanting customers to stay with them rather then leaving. I will now be keeping the account open as they have redeemed themselves!!!!!!!!!
    It takes two to tango!:rotfl:
