Can You Claim Anything When Between School & Uni?

I just left year 13 and I'm only going back into school for exams. Going to uni in October, probably.
Am I legally out of school? Can I claim anything? I received EMA, do I still receive it in this period?

Could you get a job? Lots of companies take students on full time for the summer.0

I suggest agency work or find a temporary job. I did a factory job for 6 weeks getting paid £6.50 an hour and this was 5 years ago! I saved up a bit of money for uni.0

If you make a claim for JSA, your parents will lose their child benefit and child tax credit for you which could be considerably more money.

You are still a student as you have not finished your exams yet. You will remain a registered student until that time. If you have accepted an offer at a University, and put in your application for student loans, (which, if you are in receipt of EMA, then I'm sure your parents will be supporting your application, so you should be in the process of doing that as your cut off for receiving monies at the beginning of September will be June 25th), then, yes you will still be considered a student.
You don't qualify for JSA, as you're not seeking a full time job - you are a student. Depending on where in the country you are, there are lots of part time jobs out there.0 -
Christ, straight out of school and the first question asked is can I claim?
How utterly depressing.0 -
It's nearly 25 years since I was a student, but I thought that accepting an offer from a university was conditional upon obtaining the required grades. When you finish your exams you're in a limbo between one form of FT education and another form of FT education - the second depending on how your exams go. As such, I would have thought that you are potentially available for work since you're not guaranteed a university place until you receive your A level results, and you're available for work up to when you start your next FT education. Fill out an application form and see what happens. Either way, you'll get to see the inside of a Job Centre if you're looking for a job.0

When my daughter left sixth form, I received child benefit and child tax credits until the first Monday in September. The Op's parents will also receive these benefits until then.
EMA is not paid whilst the OP isn't in class, but a bonus is payable at some point in the summer (if they qualify for it).
As others have said, time to hit the Job Centre

only thing you can get if i remember rightly is student discount on council tax , if you have accepted a place at uni0

Yes, you can claim JSA (income dependent) but as already pointed out, this will mean your parents (if you are dependent on them) will lose their benefits. Maybe have a word with them first?!0
