Primark

I have some jeans which I bought from Primark years ago (and can now get back into!) and they are by far the nicest jeans I have! I don't buy much in Primark other than knickers, socks and nighties and the odd cardie but my SiL always manages to find great stuff. She seems to have some kind of homing device! Here dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
And we were young.

with one or two exceptions i have found any clothing i've bought from primark to be poor quality but i have been very impressed with the bed linen, cushion covers etc that i've got from there0

Hi again, well I went in Primark today with my friend and saw a summer skirt thats just what I've been looking for so I bought it, just £8, plus a t-shirt for £2. I did examine the quality which seemed OK. I've tried the skirt on so far and its really nice, better than a couple I bought recently from M&S and Dorothy Perkins in fact. This summer I've not come across many nice summery skirts that suit me. I tend to like the floaty longer ones better now.
I still love M&S and DP and I've got some good cargi trousers from M&S this year, only £12 each, but the skirts in there this year aren't really what I like.0 -
The quality can be really bad, but some things are pretty good, my partner has a few pairs of combat style trousers from there and they're in fab nick still. I take stuff back if it's carp!
I've shopped there more recently as I've lost weight and am still losing so didn't want to spend a fortune on a whole new wardrobe when I'm going to be dropping sizes.0 -
I've got a pair of jeans from Primark that I bought last year, I live in them and they still look like new!!
Also as someone said, their bedlinen is superb! I have 2 sets that are over 2 years old and still wash up beautifully (I change my bedding weekly so each set has been washed over 50 times!) My son has a set on his bed that is even older and is now his only set so its wash-dry-back on the bed and it also looks fine. Better than the much more expensive bedding I had previously :j
I find their sizing bizarre though, u really do have to try on stuff. I have 2 identical pairs of linen trousers from last year (still looking good) in white and a beigey colour, one's a 16 and the other a 14. I'm a 12-14 usually in other shops. I tried on a summer dress in a 16 and couldn't even get it on.:(0 -
My daughter has lived in her £8 Primark skinny jeans since last summer, but some of the stuff she brings home from there looks very very cheap indeed - and washes like it too! Having said that her Next T shirts and leggings bought 3 months ago have holes in them already. (But they weren't expensive Next - it was the cheaper range.)
My son buys undies, socks and shirts from Primark which have always been fine, but I only really buy the occasional bag or bit of costume jewellery in there. (again fine)
I say shop where you like. If you fancy something in Primark then maybe give it a go. If I want a clutch bag in a bright colour for a night out that I know I may not use very much I head to Primark, but most of my actual clothes come from House of Fraser, Debenhams, Next, Ann Harvey, La Redoute & Simply Be.Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted. I know what you mean about Primark sizes. I tried the t-shirt on last night, I got the 14 on the advice of my friend who told me that their tops can be tight, I am usually a 12 in tops. It is way too tight, yet the skirt which is a 12 has some room in it. I won't bother returning the top for £2, will give it to charity.
Love the skirt though, I am going to get one in white aswell. I think I'll stick to M&S for the tops though.0 -
I walked through Primark today and as usual, was put off by all the stuff all over the floor.:(
I was going to buy some sunglasses for £1 (to leave in car for emergencies) but there was a queue of about 75 people and I was not prepared to join them.0 -
Ooh I'd be carefully regarding sunglasses. I saw some I really liked but noticed that they didn't have a UV sticker on them, which made me wonder if they were potentially damaging for the eyes.
Yes, the queues are pretty bad if you go at busy times, but to be fair, the one near us is always fully staffed and the queue goes down pretty quick - but I can see that for the sake of a pound it might not be worth it.
Stuff on the floor and tshirts all thrown around the display, unfolded and in the wrong sized area so you have to look at every one to find the right size - ugh makes a miserable shopping experience I agree.0 -
Have to agree with the positive comments about the bed linen, I bought a set for my Kingsize bed a while ago, I think it was £22 for the duvet cover and two cases, really good quality 100per cent cotton. It washes beautifully and looks better than other sets I have paid more for.0
