Primark

i buy sooo much from primark - eg, its probably the only place i buy my tights from, as i wear a pair (wherever they come from/however expensive they are) once or twice before laddering them..i'm that clumsy! but i feel that at 30p a pair, i can afford to be..
i also find that some things are naff quality, some of the vest tops recently you haeve to be careful with both qulaity and fit..sometimes the sizes can be hit and miss..but then that's what changing rooms / returns policies are for..
i personally love the fact that they offer more affordable "high fashion" pieces, meaning the cost per wear comes down..for me, thats a key reason to shop there..but i do agree with the above posts that you have to be a little careful re quality etc..0 -
The one thing that primark does which is excellent value and quality is their kiddies pyjamas. They are so, so good.0

I once started buying my tights and pop socks from Primark as they are only a pound a packet but the tights kept slipping down and the tops of the pop socks just dug into my calves so I gave it up as a bad job and now get them from Boots again.0

Agree with the masses here. In my experience you can buy a good long lasting item from Primark or one that falls apart, changes shape or fades drastically. But on the other hand I have things that have lasted for years and the same can be said of other more expensive places.
My best buy from Primark were a couple of summer plain skirts I bought a couple of years ago, I loved them so much, they washed well and didn't need ironing so I sourced the other colours they had done on ebay for 99p! Even more of a bargain.
Found their fake Uggs really comfy, warm and good value too.0 -
I've never had a problem with anything I've bought from Primark except pants where the sizes are weird.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

Totally agree! I buy all gk pjs from primark and they always wash and wear really well. As for adult clothes, like most other posters I have had a couple of items that have washed and worn really well, and other stuff that has dropped to bits. I dont tend to buy much, because the sizing doesnt always fit, and after my "no buying new clothes challenge" I have cut back on what I buy.

I agree that it is hit and miss but I have some really great items from Primark. I think their jeans are great for the price, I have a 3/4 length pair that are two or three years old and still immaculate, whereas a pair I paid 5 x as much for in Principles are on their last legs. I've also got a couple of pairs of skinny jeans from Primark which have lasted well.
I also like some of their footwear and buy all my PJs from there.
I do find that some of their tops can lose their shape quickly, but then again I have others that I've had for years.:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator

I dont really buy clothes from Primark as I'm a big girl and their stuff doesnt really fit, but I buy my socks from there and PJ's for OH - I think he's got some I bought him the first Christmas we started going out (4 years ago!) and they're still going strong!
Love their socks though
and I'm using a handbag I bought from there at the minute as well which is really good.
Matalan - oh my god I love Matalan. I spent a fortune in there at Xmas in the sale (mainly the Rogers&Rogers plus size range) and I find the stuff is really well made and washes really well.A lot of the patients at work have Matalan stuff bought for them and I'm amazed at how well it comes out despite being washed again and again at very high temps in industrial machines.*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200 -
I've found Primark to be really good. I've never had anything fall apart or lose shape. The only thing I don't like from there are jeans which seem to come up a lot smaller than other shops. Their bras can be a bit hit and miss too. But everything else is great

Citygirl, have you thought of getting a personal stylist? they are free in many stores, you say what sort of thing you need the clothes for (eg everyday, evening wear, work wear) and they find stuff to suit you. I've used a few before and even though I like coming up with my own style most of the time, its refreshing to get a new take on things- I've picked up tips and ideas on things that I'd previously never even thought to wear.
Places like Debenhams, House of Fraiser, John Lewis... etc have this type of service, theres no obligation to buy anything and you can visit as many as you like as often as you like.0
