Because they have already said 3D will be part of the HD pack and I suspect we will only ever see 2 to 3 3D channels in next 5 years until costs come down.
Sky made a point in their last annual report that they have no plans to drop the £10 HD charge.0 -
VM do offer free HD but not as maney channels as sky,in my opinion there is more chance of jennifer aniston popping round mine and getting over friendly than there is sky will drop the £10 charge0

How do you get " free " anything from Virgin, surely you have to subscribe just to get their service??0 -

Right, that would be inclusive then, not free.;)0 -

Only being correct,:) some readers may think that HD is actually " free " with Virgin.
( Pig's may fly )..;)
so it may be a gimmick being advertised as free but i worked out it would be cheaper than sky.
currently i have world package, sky sports, sky movies and HD at £58.50 add on ESPN and you are up to £67.50.
with VM it looks like i can get XL pack for £23 including espn, then add sports and movies for £27.50 so while it is not "free" it is certainly cheaper.
although things may well change as it appears sky have bought VM for £160m??0 -

No they haven't bought VM. They have bought Virgin Media Television (VMtv) - the owner of channels including Living, Bravo and Challenge - from Virgin Media for up to £160 million.0
