A friend just had his Sky HD fitted &,according to the engineer,Sky are stopping the £10 a month charge for the HD sub in line with VM,who do not charge.
When I worked for Sky,I had heard that Sky intended to do this as they did with the normal Sky+.
Anyone else heard this?..

Well it was talked about by a high up source in a training session we had when I worked for Sky as an Engineer.
Sky ditched the Sky+ charge when the customer base got big enough, seeing as VM dont charge,it makes financial sense to ditch the charge.0 -
would be nice if they do but cant see it happening since they have no real competition, the bandwidths of the competitions HD services are poor compared to sky0

I'm having a skyHD+ box installed tomorrow - at the moment I have the standard sky box (10 years plus old!) and I thought hard about whether it was worth it with the £10 charge!
It would be lovely if they did drop this charge - as long as I wouldn't have to pay the £10 charge for the next 12 months, as I am now entering a year contract with this!!0 -

I have serious doubts about this.0 -
I have serious doubts about this.
well in a way the HD SUB will soon go, But I cant the price going down.
give it 5 or 10 years when every one has a HD tv, Why would sky keep the SD price??
all shows and sport by then will only come in HD so yeah drop the sub and leave all prices at HD level, makes good business sense

I am thinking about getting Sky HD - but will hold off a bit longer!
They will probably ditch it - but only when they can charge for 3D TV or some other TV improvement0 -
me too! attracted by the offers at the moment (probably becuase the World Cup is on terrestrial!).
But now I might just a little bit longer....!0 -
In the past Sky charged £10 per month for Sky +
Then they introduced HD at £10 per month but scrapped the sky + charges (not sure how soon after they did this but it happened)
So what's to say when they bring in 3D they will almost certainly charge a monthly fee for it and quite possibly scrap the HD one0
