apparently there is an uprated head gasket that can be got to prevent future problems.

Great car, but HGF is an inevitability.

Give this guy a ring, will be much cheaper and he will come to your home / work to fix it.

Mankysteve thanks for the reply. It runs out of coolant fairly quickly but as i have read you cannot really see it leaking..other than that and the funny colour i would have never known!

lju thanks for that link, i am in Devon not sure where he travels to but worth calling.

He travels all over the country and has even been known to travel by plane! Give him a call i'm sure he will sort it out. Many of us over on the mg-rover.org forums have used him.

Thanks! i called him and he is busy and can't fit it in till the 24th..it will be (assuming nothing drastic) £330 inclusive so a huge saving and can be done at home. he tried fiting in enroute to somewhere else but cannot do so appreciate him trying!
Now the big Q is do we wait and hope it is ok? as i said on the MG forum if the ticking noise hadn't have cropped up ide still be driving it regardless..opinons on what you would do please?!

I personally would not drive it as I would not want to do any more damage. It may not be the HG and may be a split hose, faulty water pump etc but I would wait for Russell to look at it first. He will not try and rip you off and is a top bloke!
