    Hi Bitsy :D

    I believe it's veggie chilli :)

Found a couple of threads to help you out - related to general summer cooking

What do you cook in your SC in the summer?

    OS Summer cooking

    Summer's here, any salad recipes?

Ginghams veggie meal planner - summer (for further ideas )

I have to confess to not using mine much during the summer but i do still make soups /pie fillings/curries/ pasta sauces etc. Maybe I am weird for that he he!

I'll watch this with interest and merge this with the first thread later on:)

In my slow cooker today pt2 will also let you monitor daily what people use theirs for. Maybe make some lemon curd or more adventurous things like that? I made it once and it was devine!:j

    Good luck

Anyone tried making yogurt in a slow cooker? I ask because I've got an Easiyo yogurt maker and unless you use their (very expensive) powdered packs, it doesn't seem to work.
Perhaps a slow cooker may be too hot - even on the low setting?

I've made yoghurt using milk and starter in a flask - not needed to heat it at all. Check out this thread

Loads of tips and lots of people use their Easiyo yoghurt makers without buying the packets :D

I cook vegetables then portion them up and freeze them. I include broccoli stalks, beetroot, beet stalks (I cook the greens and eat them freshly on the day), the large, bottom rib of cabbage leaves etc. and whatever vegetables I have that risk going to waste. Every part of the vegetable is used, and all goes well in a slow cooker veggie hodge podge - and I always have veggie portions ready as and when.

On Friday I put in: 2 onions, several celery stalks, 4 large cabbage leaves, finely chopped broccoli stalks, 6 carrots, half a beetroot chopped fine (adds colour), peas, a bit of dried chopped wakame (seaweed), bits of kale. I added some rosemary and parsley and off it went. I made 8 portions. When I use them I defrost it straight into the pan with a generous dose of extra virgin olive oil and whatever seasoning takes my fancy.

I often add some diced meat if I want to make a proper stew, plus bay leaf and other stuff that I have available at the time. No two stews are ever the same with me, lol.

I don't bother with summer recipes as such, as vegetables on their own with light dressing etc are always in season, imho.
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

Unfortunately I don't fancy stews when the weather is hot, but that's just me :)

    I just found this:
    http://www.weightwatchers.com/util/art/index_art.aspx?tabnum=1&art_id=19691
gives some ideas for summery recipes in the slow cooker, although it's american

(replying to myself, but may be useful to other people as well :))
