Parking ticket in islington- 4 minutes overdue

I know it isn't what you want to hear but you came back to your car after the ticket expired so it doesn't matter if it was 1 minute or 10 minutes you'll have to pay the fine. I can't see how you have any grounds to fight it.0

When did this board become full of smart @rses who like to gloat at other's expense?
You may not care but it's people like you that will be the downfall of these forums.
BTW OP be careful because Islington will be £120 fine or £60 if paid within their timeframe. I don't think that it is unreasonable for you to attend late by a few minutes but this unfortunately doesn't matter. Head over to Pepipoo and see what they can do. Good Luck
This board has always been full of nobheads...0 -
To save yourself a lot of grief, Id pay the £40 - as said, whether you are a minute or 20 minutes over time, its still a fair cop

I don't think you can appeal and expect them to let you off.
If they did, the next guy who is 6 minutes late says "Well I was only 2 minutes later than that motorist who was 4 minutes late and you let him off, so you're being mean to me... etc. etc."
The logical conclusion to this would be that by the middle of the summer they'd be letting people off who were an hour over their time.0 -
I've had tickets for being one and two minutes late in Soho. And the pesky traffic warden was nowhere to be seen. The man without a signature.0

You wont be able to appeal with the time, but they must conform to laws.
You need to scan both sides of the PCN, deleting the personal info.
Also take pictures of the bays.

Fair cop, well not really if the PCN hasent been filled in correctly, the bays could be illegal and also the signage could be illegal.
Please try and understand they there are regulations that these councils need to adhere to in regards to issuing parking tickets.I all have learnt is from others on many sites.
Seek legal help if unsure.
Dont pay Private Parking tickets - they are mere invoices.

But it's not like the OP didn't understand the bays or the signs, is it.Fair cop, well not really if the PCN hasent been filled in correctly, the bays could be illegal and also the signage could be illegal.

I think what's at fault here is the concept of pay-and-display when you can't always know how long you're going to be (and then if you do overpay the tickets aren't transferable). It's up to the OP's concience whether to exploit a technicality (if one exists in this instance) on some other grounds.0 -

I suggest you head to www.pepipoo.com

Not really a question about concience.
Exploit a technicality.....hmmmmmmm........dont people do that on a daily basis.
They have rules that they need to adhere to, is it the OPs fault that they might not have.
How many forms have you filled out only for them to be sent back as you havent filled them out correctly.
The TW still needs to fill out the form correctly for it to be valid.
Should you pay for councils or TW mistakes.
My local paper where I work has this.
27% increase in parking tickets last year.
in 2008 - 13,688 issued
in 2009 - 17,382 issued
Where does the money go?
Maintain the roads I think not, pay the councillers YUP.
Moral of story
if the ticket or bay or signs are not legal then the fine is not legal, simple.I all have learnt is from others on many sites.
Seek legal help if unsure.

The OP isn't suggesting that there were any other reasons why the ticket shouldn't be issued other than it was issued 4 minutes after his time ran out.
So, if 4 minutes over is not a long enough period to trigger the issue of the ticket, how long do you think the parking officer should hang around before doing so? 10 minutes, 15, half-an-hour?0
