Buying phone with PAYG SIM compared to handset free
Hi,
Sorry if this is a stupid question.
I'm on O2, monthly contract (SIM only, they didn't give me a phone). My phone has broken now so I'm looking for a new one. I've seen its much cheaper to buy a phone with a PAYG SIM, for example on an O2 network than just the handset alone.
So if I bought a phone with an O2 PAYG SIM, then just put my monthly contract SIM in, would it work?

It certainly would.
The payg's are cheaper because the network subsidise them. You do usually have to buy £10 worth of topup, so don't forget to factor that in.
I'm not sure how O2 work, but some networks won't allow the topup to go elsewhere, so you couldn't, for example, have it moved to your contract.0 -

One word of warning though - if you buy a phone on PAYG that they dont do on contract and something goes wrong you may have problems - I had this sort of problem with my Tocco Lite on Vodafone when I switched to SIM only from PAYG as contract team didnt have a clue about my phone and PAYG team wouldnt help cos I was contract!*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200
