I think price reductions on fresh fruit and veg are often misleading.
There's such a large fluctuation in price due to seasonality, it is meaningless to put on stickers saying "£1 off", "50% off", "bogof", etc. All they mean is that they are in better supply this week than they were, say, a month ago.
They should be forced to display the price this week last year, which would give a better indication of value.
Or they should have to display stickers saying "£1 extra", "100% price increase", etc, when the prices go back up again. These should be with the same prominence as the price reduction stickers.0 -

(I live in Cyprus with work)
Whilst on a family day out to visit Caledonian Falls (A waterfall within the Troodos Mountains), when parking the car up at the Trout farm to venture up the trail, we noticed that there were cherries on the floor. A bit unusual we though, we have only lived here for 4 months, and have only seen Oranges, Lemons, Banannas on tree's, Melons sold out the back of small vans by people at the side of the road.
A further look to the above, saw that actually Cherries do grow on trees, and could of been picked from a standing height.
The following day i was in the local supermarket, and we spotted the Cherries section. In Cyprus they label each fruit, but also the country where it came from. So we instantly spotted the Cyprus Cherries, and figured instead of actually buying these, we could next time we could pick our own, free of charge..
Not only free of charge, but also very fresh too..

I did exactly the same thing in Tescos the other week - the bag of cherries had been put back amongst the grapes, so there was no price label around, so in a bid to be healthy I put them in the trolley with all of the other fruit I'd bought - when I got to the till there was a bag that had been put by, and it hadn't occurred to me why, until I checked my receipt and found out that they were just over £5!!! They did taste good, but I shan't be making that mistake again.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170

Don't these overspends make you feel dirty...
I make sure I don't do a price comparison or check the label once a month just for the sheer extravagent thrill of it :rotfl:Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

Nearest Asda for us is over 40 miles away so I'd be cheaper to buy them at M&S“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0 -

Tesco had some nice fluffy (cherry) tomatoes when I visited today too. Mmmmmm.
I was just thinking about the M&S cherries, I have some rewards vouchers, was going to save them for Christmas but I could indulge and spend some of them on some nice cherries. :j
Came across this website too, and National Cherry Day is on Saturday 17th of July.

This looks like a good idea. Waiting list though, so you could have a lot of cherries from July 2011 onwards. For just over £40 they do all the work and you get to pick the crop.

Farmers markets on these dates...
