Hi,
Just had the first letter from MBNA following my claim -
Apologies for the delay in responding to you; however, our investigations are taking longer than anticipated. We will issue a response by xx.xx.xx
Assume this a standard issue letter from them?
Hi, glad to hear you have received some feedback, I have never dealt with MBNA, so could not confirm if this is standard of not, hope you hear soon though with a good result, fingers crossed.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Hi Trish, hopefully the HMRC tax office will provide the required info, this should then be sorted, good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi,

Reply in summary:
Our record show that the PPC was applied to your account 1 June 2001. I have enclosed a copy for your reference which clearly shows that you selected the option.
(They’ve attached a print of the form I ticked when the account was opened 2001)
Letter goes on
The terms and conditions were issued in the form of a benefits booklet, along with the initial issue of your credit card. These gave you 30 days in which to read and cancel without any financial obligations.
(They didn’t send another copy of this booklet).
Letter goes on
Since the policy was applied, an updated versions of the PPC terms and conditions were issued in May 2003 and November 2004. These also provided you with further opportunity to contact us to discuss the details of the policy.
You outlined in your letter that the specialist did not enquire about any existing insurance you in had in place or existing benefits from your workplace. I can confirm the PPC does not discriminate against any other insurance policies or benefits received from work. The PPC pay along any other claim.
Then basically they inform me that this is this final response and to contact the FOS.

Is worth going to FOS, any advice on the next steps?
Thanks all for taking the time out to read this and for your help0 -

Hi there
So sorry to hear this.
And yes I would keep going with it, do not leave it there.
It could have been that you were told to sign it.
Was it a tick you can remember adding yourself, or was it done by the bank?
Was it bank processed ticked?
If this was the final response and they mentioned the FOS, then complain to the FOS:
http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/consumer/complaints.htm
If not the final decision, then write back with any further information that you may have, until you receive the final response.
Keep at them, good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Thanks for the quick response.
Yes it was a tick box on the form.
This is this final response,
quote "I must inform you that this is our final response on the matter".
Any tips about what to say the FOS?
Thank you!!0 -
The text in the original and only form I ticked says
"We strongly recommend that you take out this cover"0 -
Hi, yes I missed that part sorry about the FOS at first.
Right, I would stick to your guns for the reasons you already had.
And if you were pressurised into taking the policy out, you need to write that in the complaints form as well.
Some use to think it was all part of being accepted for finance, so again if this was the case for you, you should also write that as well.
It also seems that the policy was not even explained to you, or that you were given an option, going by the above findings on your reasons you gave.
So in this case as it was not explained to you, you need to write this and and tell them you were not given the opportunity to say yes or no - so therefore assumed it was all part of the policy.;)
Good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Thanks all for your help.
I will keep you posted on any updates0
