Question about MBNA and Monument

Hello all,
And can I thank you all for the advice you have offered to me so far.
I'm now at what I would think is the "second stage" with regards to claiming back missold insurances as I'm not entirely happy with the responses, and would appreciate any further advice. I'm aware that these posts can be quite lengthy so I will try and keep as short as possible, and I also apologize if these questions have been asked before, but I have searched and not found anything which could help specifically.
Firstly MBNA Credit Card PPI.
MBNA have said they will refund me premiums for the 9 years my account was open, I asked for a breakdown of what they were going to pay me which they assured me they would send. This hasn't been sent but they've issued me a cheque, but don't know if this is for the full amount. They wont communicate any further unless through FOS, should I take it to FOS?
Finally, Monument Credit Card Payment Break Plan
Monument are saying that their payment break plan is different to PPI, and that as I haven't contacted them before now (26th April 2010) they deem this to show they have acted responsibly.
They say that in 6 years I paid £123.13 in Payment Break Plan charges and as a gesture of goodwill they will refund me £61.56.
Should I be requesting a breakdown of what I paid over the years? Is this reasonable what they have offered?
Any advice appreciated !
Many thanks

Good morning and hope your well.
May I suggest that you email the MBNA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and explain your situation, tell him you want some response by 5 days, make him aware that you have received the payment cheque PPI refund from the refunds dept (Insurance), you previously requested for a written breakdown before this, and now that you have been sent the cheque before receiving the breakdown, your not sure if the correct amounts have been paid.

Chief Exective Officer (CEO)
And only if you want to add this:
You could tell him, you will keep a log of this and if you hear nothing it will be a matter of accepting the cheque payment but will continue anyway with the FOS, as you have also given MBNA an opportunity to deal with this matter before sending the cheque. Tell them they did assure you that you would also receive the breakdown. Again this part of it us up to you, or wait to see if they get back to you first before cashing in the cheque.
And in regards of Monument, there is no harm in requesting they send you a breakdown as well.
Good luck and please keep us posted.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Your very welcome, and good luck, please let us know when you hear, cheers.;)
I'm very surprised to say I had a call from The Complaints Manager at MBNA following on from my email to the CEO - very apologetic and assuring me he will get the information immediately and I could have it emailed tomorrow or sent in the post - followed up with another very apologetic email from him !:)0 -

Hi,
I'm just putting my case together for PPI claim for my MBNA card account that was opened in 2001. When you put your claim in, did you just send in the FOS ppi questionnaire and\or a more formal letter?
Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank y ou0 -

Hi there and good luck.
I have not actually dealt with MBNA myself but as you can see many have, and sure they will come back with some helpful advice and info for you in regards of this bank.
However, the FOS have recently issued the questionnaires, but if you want to do your own cover letter as well that is fine.;)

The reclaiming template is no longer on the above link for the first stage, but you will come across the questionnaire in its place, but if you did want to also use a template as a guide, there is one on this link here:

I would also keep copies as well.
They have 8 weeks in full to respond.
Good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Hello,
I put my initial letter (not questionnaire)in to MBNA on 29/03/10, they responded within four weeks with a telephone call saying I wasn't eligble for a refund, during the same call it turned out they agreed I WAS eligible but Ineeded to prove it - which I did. I waited a while then popped a call in to see where the case was at, they verbally gave me a figure over the phone and I asked them for a breakdown. A few weeks later a cheque came through the post but no breakdown. Thanks to Di's advice I emailed the CEO yesterday and come later yesterday afternoon.... well, you can see the response from their Customer Services Manager !
I wish you good luck - keep us posted.
I'm continuing with Monument at the moment, they're saying that that don't need to pay me anything but, as a gesture of goodwill will pay be half my premiums back..... I don't see they'd give me money on an account that has been closed for some time if they didn't have to!0 -
Thanks all for your help, I will keep you posted!0

Hi,
Just had the first letter from MBNA following my claim -
Apologies for the delay in responding to you; however, our investigations are taking longer than anticipated. We will issue a response by xx.xx.xx
Assume this a standard issue letter from them?0
