IMHO I like having them on the main boards as I rarely venture into the regulars so I'm sure I've missed many a cracking comp!
This is probably best discussed in the discussion thread so apologies for bumping. I think the problem arises because different people have different definitions of what a "regular" competition is.
My personal opinion is that a regular competition is a competition which is for one prize but which can be entered more than one time on a regular basis. An example of this would be one of the reelcinemas ones such as this or a scifionline one such as this. These allow you to enter more than one time, on a daily basis, but are for the same prize and there is just the one prize draw.
Personally I think that when the competition is different each day/week/month then it is not a regular competition, because although that company may run regular competitions, each competition is entirely unique and may have a different prize, different end date or different question. Examples of this would be the ITV ones, the Takeabreak magazine ones, this one here, and even this Company thread.
I think the main problem is that there is no consistency. Some are in the main board, some are in the regulars board. Some are posted as separate threads, some are posted all on the same thread. Some get moved backwards and forwards and then backwards again. I have tried several times to ask in the Discussion thread and to ask MSE but nobody has ever given a definitive answer because nobody really seems to know.
For example if a monthly was posted on the main board or even the regular board with an end date of 31/12, some people may not see it until December if they work by end date, and would have then missed out on many of the draws.
Another problem with the regular board is that threads get closed after a set period of time so if the question changes or the link changes or something else goes wrong nobody is able to say anything.
Yet another problem with weeklies and monthlies is that they don't always finish at the end of the month or week. They can finish and start at all different times so you need to be very on the ball as to when you enter them all each week/month. This is why I steer clear of most of the regular board as it would be far too confusing to keep track of (especially if a thread has been locked and I can't 'thank' a new post each month).
Oh well, those are my views. Thanks to everyone who posts, in whatever format everyone chooses.0 -

I agree with you twotimes that this should probably be discussed in a Discussion Thread but I don't think the majority of people (I certainly don't) venture there, but I agree with all you've said above. I personally used to visit the daily thread (by the time they get there you have usually lost at least one day) etc but found that I was picking threads up myself from main forum and adding to my favorites on computer and keeping track that way. I personally prefer to have all posts in one place and pick off the ones that I want. It takes so much time to surf through all the different places that it leaves less time to catch up on comps. The beauty about threads like Puzzles, Company, ITV, GMTV, etc being on one thread is that we can subscribe to that thread and get notified as soon as someone posts something. I personally appreciate all the people that post comps, and it's then up to me to find and work with in whatever way I can find best.#StaySafeWishing you a Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year0 -
