    Hi All,

We finally have our boy home, after 2 weeks and 2 days!

We have no idea where he has been, what he has been up to (although we have our suspicions! ) He was taken to the local pound yesterday and was not scanned as routine, oddly enough, so it was only through my mil calling them that we found out it was him.

We cant believe it and are counting our blessings, thanks to everyone who offered support and advice and to demonicangel for keeping an eye out for him

Really glad you found him! I live in Laindon too and yesterday morning at the station there was a young male tan staffie running round the station - the station staff managed to get hold of him and were going to ring the warden so hopefully he found his way home as well!

I bet you have never been so happy. And I'm sure your dog is a happy boy too, he must have been scared and confused during his adventure.

So pleased to hear this. BUT why on earth wasnt he scanned! I hope you complain about it, makes you wonder if any poor dogs are pts when they could have been reunited with their owners.

I'm so pleased you've got your lad back!

I would be desperate if I lost my Staffyboy, so I just can't imagine what torment you've been going through!

Please give him a big smoochy hug from me!

I called our vets and they told me that a man went to the surgery today and told them he had found a staffie but as he wasnt injured they wouldnt take any further action

I would change vets immediately. It would have taken a jobsworth behind the counter all of 30 seconds to scan his chip and bring up the details. This whole fiasco and heartbreak could have been averted if the vet had a tiny ounce of compassion and wasn't just thinking "what's in it for me?". Maybe I'm jumping the gun a little but I'm confident that if my dog was taken to my vet as lost, they would have probably a) recognised him immediately, or b) at least done a scan. What's the point in vets selling these chips if they don't bother to scan them?

Congratulations on getting your loved-one back. If you're wondering where he's been, my guess is there's going to be lots of local people with unexpected pregnant b1tches!

    Thanks everyone.

I am changing vets immediately. Our local paper ran a story on our missing dog and when they questioned the vets they said they were operating on a cat at the time, but on the two occasions I called on that day two different people told me different and also when I rang the next day the lady told me that there policy was to always scan stray dogs and never turn an animal away and she was going to investigate and call me back, well to do this day I have not had a call and if the explanation was as simple as they were busy operating on a cat then im sure she would have called and explained.

There were several errors made by different people all the way through to be fair right down to the pound not scanning the hoard of Staffies that they had in, eventhough I had called them, been there, emailed them lots of pictures of my dog, then they just dropped him off at my mother in laws without asking for any ID, its not her address that the chip is registered at. Now I cant get hold of the pound, no one calls back!

We are responsible staffie owners and have been for the last 10 years, we know how many unwanted dogs there are around and the reason he was not neutered was he was too young. It was our intention to get him done in the next few weeks. He will be booked in with another vets and they will be getting our hard earned cash, not the vets that turned him away.

    Thanks again everyone
