Never tried Philosophy perfume, what kind of smell is Unconditional Love?

Unconditional love would be how your OH smells after a night out drinking and eating curry ......not what I'd want in a perfume;):D

No, it was a joke about what the perfume name makes me think of....unconditional love is loving them when they stink....not when they smell great.:D

Emailed Jo Malone yesterday after the good comments about the Grapefruit perfume to see if they'd send me a sample - no such luck :(

Oh what a shame! I'm lucky enough to live near (ish!) a Jo Malone shop, and they are generally quite generous with samples. I'll try and score you one when I inevitably go and buy some. more. (I miss it already!)

Just had a look on Ebay, £5 Buy it now for a little sample!
The lady in the Body Shop was telling me last week that when men smell grapefruit on women, they typically guess their age as 5 years younger on average!:j

It's scary how much they sell for isn't it?! There's not many squirts in a 1.5ml sample! I'm pretty sure that piece of research is a factor in why so many of us buy grapefruit fragrances! :D

I have the Wild Fig & Cassis - it's quite woody and very figgy. I loved it at first, but I think i just got bored with it. I think it's because for me, nothing else seems to develop from it except the smell of fig.

I think Jo Malone fragrances are all a bit like that. They are not for the peeps that love complexity and development from their perfume. I'm terrible, I like to have a few different perfumes on the go for different moods and sometimes the simplicity of just smelling "Grapefruity" is exactly what I want.

:T PS Check me out multi-quoting! I've been here for donkeys yonks and I've never known how to do that before. Thank you Mags30!

Me as well with the multiquote as well! :rotfl:

I think you're right about Jo Malone, I loved the Vintage Gardenia when it first came out, but after a few wears, went off it. That's probably why they recommend the combining. I think I might have a grapefruit sample somewhere, I might have to try it.

I can honestly say however that the Lutens Miel du Bois is horrible.

    I like Lostinrates' description! :rotfl:

I'm not great at describing perfumes but I like Unconditional Love because it smells light and pretty, of flowers, fruity berries and the kind of vanilla that smells like sun warmed skin. It's sweet, but not cloying, and doesn't give me a headache which is something I have to be careful of. It's not a statementy kind of fragrance, and I feel as if I smell like *me* when I wear it no matter what I'm wearing or doing.

My Donna Karan Black Cashmere on the other hand, refuses to be worn round the house with trackie pants and unstyled hair, and it hates sunny days. It demands full make up, a properly put together and accessorised outfit, and a specific place to be going - preferably after dark! It will settle for daylight so long as I have @r$es to kick at work:rotfl:

    (I sound crazy don't I?)

With all the discussion about the Grapefruit scent - I looked up 'perfume parlour' and they have their own Grapefruit perfume oil. My OH loves eating grapefruit, so he'd probably love the smell too - I'm tempted to try out this scent though with 13 perfume oils on my dresser I can't really justify it at the moment!
No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!

Oh no what a shame about the Lutens Miel du Bois! I haven't tried that one. I wore Feminite du Bois for a while and loved it - even though Hubby had the temerity to suggest that it smelled a bit pruney!:D
