DS claims he had no choice but to drink the milk - he needed something as it was hot, but there's "nothing else" in the house. (He won't drink water, and the orange and Vimt0 cordials are both a couple of months out of date..... because he stopped drinking them!)
Hi cw
Oh dear to DS... what are you going to do with him?????:eek::eek:The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time

And hello to everyone else:

Hope you’re pleased with the fabric?

Oh dear to the ice cream:(... but an LSD is much better than a mega spend day.
You’re definitely making progress - keep going!

jess444: oh dear, your free greenhouse seems to be costing you lots of money:(, hope you get it sorted finally tomorrow. Don’t worry, it’s still early days and you can get there..
Dorastar: welcome back, glad you had a good (and frugal) weekend away. Being at work all day is definitely the way to get NSDs - good luck for this week;)
Well I've managed to get no 5 today, mainly due to the weather as I was supposed to go and buy some plants but it wouldn't stop raining (and I HATE getting wet:o). Plant buying postponed to later in the week now...
Off to do the usual page 1 update now, see all you lovely peeps tomorrow:D
'night

I've noticed as i'm getting older it's getting so much worse, today's been a nightmare of a day largely cos i've felt like such a misery guts all day
Don't really want to take "proper" medication though if i can help it....butdoineedit? wrote: »...Consequently i can't use the back garden in the summer cos i have no fence, freeze to death in the winter cos i have no heating, store my food in the hallway on a bookcase cos the kitchen is no more than a oven with a bit of wood over the top, and started knocking all the walls down to change the downstairs layout, but now don't have the money to reinstate them!!!! Aargh
Oh well tomorrow's another day & i have ice cream in the freezer, so guess i'm not really that badly off at all
As to fencing...have a go at wooden pallets...you can get them free from local builders merchants/garden centres as well as Freecycle/Freegle etc (our local greengrocer leaves them out at the back of his place...and they just disappear....exactly as he wants!). They are solid and usually free...the blue ones won't be...but you should be able to get some. The wood is good and will last a few years...useful as a temporary solution I would think!
A huge thanks to everyone and their lovely warm wishes about my tax windfall. I had sort of forgotten about it today, until we looked up the cc details that we want to pay off...and it is £500 less than we thought, so perhaps we can have a decent treat after all!
Our treat this weekend was to get some Magnum icecreams, half-price at Mr M (and on BOGOF @ Mr T)...very yummy! We might go out for Fathers Day...DS1 is talking about coming home form Uni...which will be nice.
We are off to Scotland this summer, but haven't really got things finally organised...mainly as we didn't know if DS2 was going to Spain with rugby or not. As it is he isn't, but he does have a two-day training camp in Leeds instead.
So we will pick him up on the way north to Scotland for a lovely two weeks away. Really must get my a**e into gear, as we are going in 4 weeks time!
Right off to bed, really tired as hardly slept last night...at least it is much cooler tonight!
Night, night
Oh, oh, I forgot to declare today as NSD no 3!!! I am really not with it today!

Hya cw, I have a reavenous DS too...he "only" drinks 2 pints or so of milk a day, but thankfully is happy with the 50:50 watered down blue milk. He does have a tendancy to have 5-egg omlettes though...DAILY!!! So I have got him down to 4-egg ones, and no more than 3 a week!! Thank goodness I can get large free-range eggs for £1.99 a dozen!
We had hoped he would be off to college/uni next year...instead his is going to one this year to do a National Diploma, but IS STAYING AT HOME... I suppose it will be cheaper for us up-front (accommodation-wise), but I wouldn't be surprised if he will cost us about that in food, washing, clothing etc over the whole year!!
Surely one day these lads will stop eating quite so much!
Well done on getting "rid" of yours this September...can't wait until I can do the same...much as I love him...his is such hard work at times!

Not a fan of yoghurt (other than some of the 'Corner' ones), and very rarely do 'pudding'. If I did have fruit & yoghurt it would be my breakfast instead of porridge (or which I have a mountain) or bagels. (Calcium is something else my diet is short on, so I've just started taking supplements.)
Hi CW I hope you don't mind me sticking my two pennyworth in re your son. Please don't take offence as I really do feel for you with DS and his milk addiction. Personally, I'd give him a quota and when it's gone it's gone. If he wants any more he can buy it for himself.
I'm a great fan of tough love for kids. Far too many of them don't understand the real world cos mummy and daddy have protected them from the harsh realities of life. Then when they do eventually leave home it comes as a huge shock to them.
He'll winge and moan and tell you what a rotten parent you are for a bit but eventually he'll get the idea. After all you have a problem that you are dealing with, it's not unreasonable to expect him to trim his expectations back in the light of that problem. Maybe even he could get a bit of a part time job to help out...
Anyhow, sorry if you think I've overstepped the mark on the advice front. It really is meant in a positive way.0 -

But there was no way I was going out for more yesterday, and I won't be going out today either (been 'up and down' for a lot of the night, so have had to phone in sick - and don't qualify for sick pay, so just glad I did extra hours a few weeks back which should make up for the 9 hours I'm losing today). As such he's going to have to make the 'green' milk last unless he goes to the shops for more himself.Cheryl0 -

Morning all
Thanks Spoon, well done to you to for getting to 5, you're doing fantastic this month and thank you for keeping us all on track :happylove
Having a bit of a carp morning, can't get my head around anything, just feel like crawling back in bed, may spend a day on the sofa with something crafty, got so much work to do though but I really can't be bothered. The AIW film was a disappointment, some brilliant special effects, but not one of my favourite Depp movies. I should have paid more attention to what the story was and kept in mind it was Tim Burton. I was expecting a live action version of the disney cartoon but this one is darker and Alice was 19 and no apron to put her eat me, drink me in. I didn't like Depp's character, that's the first time I've ever not liked him in a movie! The Mad Hatter is supposed to be a fun eccentric character, Depp's was sad and depressing in that you could feel the pain of madness, really good at being a madman but not my cup of tea at any tea party. Hope that doesn't put people off watching it that haven't seen it all ready, just my opinion. One mans meat etc...
Keiss I forgot to say congrats to you for your windfall, forgive me, my brain is a little dysfunctional at the moment, got a lot of personal stuff going on currently (family and work causing stress) and still trying to deal with what happened last week. I feel only half here sometimes. Glad you discovered that you may have a surplus £500, that will pay for a lovely treat for you all, really pleased that positive things are happening for you. Your pending holiday sounds nice, know what you mean about getting you're asp in gear. We go away in just over 5 weeks can't believe how quickly its come around, but I really can't wait to get away from it all.
We did have some good news this weekend, our little car passed her MOT without needing anything doing, so DH put her in for a full service for all the things an MOT doesn't check (I didn't realise so much was ignored in an MOT) and it cost nearly £160  but she's had new plugs, points, filters and so many other things that DH thinks are worth having done to make her ready for the hols and we have a car budget so not a huge problem. It made me laugh that we celebrated her getting through her MOT with no bill, only to get another one though!
Hugs to all that need them, off to try and sort myself out and try and get off the pity pot, must be getting close to that time of the month methinks.
Herby x
