Gentle Jump into June? Did we mention NOT spending...(well this is the NSD challenge)

Katenut, Shouldn't darling horse be DH1 and hubbie relegated to DH2, especially as geegee did so well (congrats to you both) and hubbie drilled into your finger and then rushed off to golf leaving you to clear up his mess
By the way - question time!! How old is your geegee, how long have to had her, how tall is she, do you keep her at livery/look after her yourself, is she mostly stabled or in a field, etc, etc, etc. Pardon me for asking, but I just love horses and used to do a lot of riding many moons ago, and I am nosey!!!! I always wanted a pony when I was young, but we never had enough money for me to get one, though I did look after one for a year or so, so I 'borrowed' him.
Now you've gone and done it, I can bang on about my horse for hours!! My friends are developing a glazed expression everytime horses crop up in conversation :rotfl:
My horse is called Maddy, she's a 17yr old 16.2hh bay thoroughbred mare. She raced (and won!) as a youngster, and used to event at novice/intermediate level. She was retired due to injury and bred 3 foals, then I got her on long-term loan last summer.
She lives on my friends farm, I pay £10 a week for grazing and pay for her hay/straw in winter - she only goes in a stable at night in the winter. She is my main treat in life - DH has his golf days, and I have Maddy!
She was a nightmare when I got her, hadn't been ridden for 4 years and was totally nuts! We've 'bonded' now though, and I trust her completely, even though she still has her stupid nutty moments. I've got a warm gooey feeling even as I type this, I'm so soppy about her!
Do you ever ride at all now 3Dogs? The recession has meant that lots of horses are now free to a good home because no-one can afford to keep them, some people I know do a horse-share and split the costs.
Anyway, back to normality! Had a lovely time with my friends last night, DH stayed well out of my way (I wonder why?) and he should have finished the greenhouse by the time I get home from work.
Today should be a NSD but I'll report back later, might need some pack-up stuff but don't know until I get home.
Enjoy the sunshine everyone, keep slapping the suncream on!xx
Trying to jump back onto the moneysaving wagon .... :cool:0 -
Morning All
Where is the sun? I haven't got it anyway, it appears to be over the hill in the East with Jinty.
Well isn't that really interesting that chavs don't talk with an adenoidal whine? So why do neds in Scotland talk with an adenoidal whine, is it a byproduct of the accent? I want you all to pop out into a back alley and have a conversation with your local chavs and then report back on the state of their adenoids, how weird is that???
Anyway, social research aside, I am very hopeful for another NSD to-day, will pop back later to confirm.More than Two Years in
Doing it the Niddy way:j:j:j0 -
Our Lincolnshire Chavs all talk in mumbles and grunts, interspersed with shouting obscenities at each other or random strangers. Their adenoids seem fine though, it must only be a Scottish requirement.Trying to jump back onto the moneysaving wagon .... :cool:0

Right, pdd, I'll be off out this afternoon with my clipboard to make some notes for you, though I have a feeling I might get more than a few obscenities (and cider bottles) thrown at me if I venture out when the match is on.... The things I do for you lot.....:rotfl:
Back later to report on my research;);)The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time

Just been up the back alley & can confirm that our chav's also don't have adenoids, just rough yorkshire accents, with the rasp that comes from too many rollies!!!!February NSD challenge 5/150 -

:hello:Hi all NSD'ers
Hope everyone is enjoying the weather and high hopes for the footie for all those watching. Thanks Spoon, thoroughly enjoyed Dr Who when I got in, made even better by the fact that I hadn't gone to the shop before watching it
Well, I've made it into work without going to the shop again and am sitting here with my pre made squash, the debit card is back in the house and the shops wouldn't be open on my way home anyway so I'm clocking in with number 12 :T Giving myself a clap as I think this is the most I've ever done, maybe I can actually do it this month...........perhaps crossing my fingers will mean I can't open my purse :rotfl:
Thanks again for all the updates and encouragement, well done everyone not spending. :TI have been really enjoying this this month and will certainly be back again in July
Onwards and Upwards all xxxxx

Declaring NSD no 17 today...only 1 more to get my pony!! :j
Been in the garden this morning too but a bit late to avoid the heat!Got my watering system partly installed in the greenhouse (got too hot in there!), plan on finishing it tonight once it has cooled down. I want to be able tweak it before we go away in a week's time. Also released the beans and peas from the netting that covered them...surely the pigeons won't do much damage now they are at least 3 feet tall!!
...famous last words
At least picking the peas and beans will be much easier!!
Plan on planting out my brassicas in the next day or two...they are suffering a bit in their pots. but we only dug up the last of the early potatoes during the week...thus freeing up a veg bed for the broccoli, chard, sprouts and kale...so they will need netting soon!!
Going to finish my latest celtic knot bookmark (x-stitch) this afternoon, this one is for my SIL in Canada, her birthday is July the 4th...so must get it posted tomorrow. It will be a spending day as I have my physio in the afternoon, so will get a few more things...enough to make sure the rest of June is NSD - I hope!!!
Have a great day everyone...and enjoy the football if you can/want to!! Personally listening to the cricket...much better! :rotfl:

I'm just so pleased & proud of--& FOR--you x
....we watched good old Andy WIN at the tennis.C'mon Andy:beer: I've missed a lot of the tennis this yearbut my interest began fading a few seasons back, when it seemed more important to whack the ball as hard as possible as opposed to a good, tactical game that was enjoyable to watch....
This challenge makes you realise that the good things in life dont always need to involve dosh! I'm lucky to be blessed with a great family and OH....] used to enjoy the morning walks to school in the Spring & Autumn, when we would look for Fairy Diamonds on the hedgerows, & Leprechaun's Fishing Nets hung out to dry. To most people they were dew drops & spiders webs, but to us they were magical
