Another spending day...but OK about it. Got a Mr T delivery, posted my sis's pressies and booked our two-night stay (and ferry) in Orkney. :j

Totally blown the budget, but know I can cope with it this month thanks to the tax-refund...just have to get back to "normal" next month...which could be difficult as off to Scotland for two weeks!!!

Also DS1 will be home for one of the weeks that we are away...and may eat everything left in the freezer :D! Actually, we may find more that we leave...but possibly not. He hasn't got a job this summer (who has?!), so may spend a lot of time at his girlfriend's. Just so long as he is back once in a while to water the plants!! I have a lot of my pots on a watering system, but there will be others that will cope with a week of no watering, but a fortnight could be the death of them! :D

Have decided to put more than half my tax-refund into savings and pay into the 0% cc each month enough to have paid off most (or even all) of it by the time the interest-free time is over (15 months). I could just leave it there to pay the bill at the end of the 0% period, but knowing that money is coming out regularly will stop us from raiding it....at least that is the idea!

This way we earn some interest (not much though) as well as reducing our debts...and have some money for treats and essentials (and holiday!) now. Good plan?

It's funny how having money and wondering what to do with it was almost as bad as not having it...not really, but much more indecision and stress on my part!

I was sooo worried about spending so much on our trip to Orkney...but as we had no holiday last year (I was too ill), and we will be staying with family the rest of our time in Scotland..I decided to splash out. Not too much though, as I managed to find a hotel that does a family room...so we will be sharing with DS2 for a couple of nights!! All this scrimping and saving (or at least trying to!!) made me really think about spending all this money...so I am improving!

Just have to get all my spending in line the next few months, and perhaps we will see more of our debts disappearing :j.

The car sailed through its service, so no "new" car for a while - what a relief!

Thank goodness the Glasto concert has stopped...our neighbours were blasting it out tonight (and last night!). Muse are not our favourite band...DS2 went to bed in disgust! :rotfl:

Off to get the washing on, then bed...need to get up early to get some work done in the greenhouse before it gets unbearably hot . Great tennis today, may (or may not!) watch the footie tomorrow...

    Night, night all xx

Well, today (Sunday) will be my last NSD of the month so sadly my target has not been reached. Still, 10 is not too bad. Put me down for 10 again next month please!

It hasn't been a nsd for me today - got a takeaway to celebrate finishing the PGCE course and gaining QTS :j :j

Congratulations, sf, really pleased for you after all the hard work you've put into the course.

  • Hi everyone, I've been MIA due to chickenpox, chest infections, school stuff and general end of terminess. I pleased to report that I've had NSD 9 & 10 amidst the chaos Only two more to find now. It's going to be tough as there is so much to do before we go away on holiday next month but I'll try.

Good morning everyone - its a beautiful day here - must be summer;)
Pleased to announce NSD #14 for yesterday. I'm determined to make my target today, so I'm going nowhere!
Had a great day yesterday - went to library to return my books and I managed to get two books which were on my Amazon wish list. I was thinking of using my birthday money to buy them - so that was a stroke of luck!:D (Incidentally, if anyone is looking for a good book I highly recommend "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett, easily the best book I've read for a very long time!)
My Mum came up and fixed my knitting for me, then we went for lunch with my Dad and they treated me!
We didnt bother with our usual Sat night takeaway, OH cooked a nice dinner, and we watched good old Andy WIN at the tennis.C'mon Andy:beer:
All in all a lovely day, and no money spent! :j
This challenge makes you realise that the good things in life dont always need to involve dosh! I'm lucky to be blessed with a great family and OH.
Today Im going to do a bit of housewark before it gets too hot, then Im going to sit in the garden with my book. OH is working, hopefully just till lunchtime. I believe there's some football match on today ...............:rotfl:

Have a lovely day everyone, thanks for all the posts, they keep me going!:)
