Afternoon MSE'ers
Well, we all know there are various bank employees on the forum, but who has spotted the AE's, i.e. those that want to "blend in" who deliberately withold the fact they are employed by a bank.....
What about those that openly admit to working for a bank, that have now either stopped posting, gone into hiding or been dismissed? I know several people on here that were employee's, seems the banks are ditching their staff when they find out they post here, why? It's not like breaches to the Official Secrets Act, it is generally open and freely available information that is readily available upon request or by searching the web - so why are banks reacting in such a manner?
So, lets have an anonymous poll and see who works where, please be serious as this would come in handy just so the DFW's know who is [STRIKE]spying on us[/STRIKE] watching us
I don't want this to turn into a slanging match against the banks, its a pure and simple poll to determine who works where, for statistical purposes only

Just to follow up, there are 5 people I know of that have been fired from their employer, one of which was an absolute joke with nothing more than circumstantial evidence; then you have Natty (we all know about that), plus BarclaysManager and then my HSBC & Abbey mates......
From the ones mentioned, at worse they only ever gave general info - it wasn't like they spilled the formulae to credit scoring or the likes
So, to start the ball rolling we can name and shame the 5 banks in question, for unethical clensing :rotfl:- RBS/NatwestIf anyone that works for a bank, wants to come and praise their employer, please feel free.... this is not a rant about banks, moreso an attempt to establish anonymity v openess and the consequences of both scenarios.

* Disclaimer, if you post and subsequently get sacked - sorry, that's your own fault for working for a bank. I take no responsibility whatsoever!2010 - year of the troll

Well I've voted, and I normally don't talk about who I work for in case they find me on the internet!!
We are all warned not to discuss who we work for online, so I stick to that rule. I need my salary and don't want to risk it.0 -

Hi FF
Thanks for your vote - I do actually know who you work for (from other chats) - its unfortunately my biggest nemesis (your employer I mean), but I wont moan at you cos it's not your fault who you work for.
Thanks for voting, oh and by the way - there are a couple of Lloyds staff on here trying to cause bother so any Lloyds staff, keep your head down! :rotfl:2010 - year of the troll

Financial organisations should have a social media policy in place to protect their brand, in which staff and employer agree on what they can / cannot say as a company representative. If you work for a bank / BS etc, and don't have a policy, speak to your employer before posting.Earn £10 a day JAN: £92.23 / £310 :j ...............NSD Jan 2/10
14 months to debt free with snowballing (start date Jan 2012) £0/12600........JAN weight loss target 5/60 pounds

But as staff, unless appointed, they are only an employee "expressing an opinion or offering basic advice that is freely available". Ergo, no need to seek employers authority as they will not be classified as an "Official Company Representative", of sorts. They really cannot do much to you - well, they can and do but that is because nobody will take them on!
Speak to ACAS if you've been shafted by a bank, sorry - only employees are eligible otherwise poor ACAS would be hiring 1,000,000 new staff to cope with the influx of calls :rotfl: :rotfl:2010 - year of the troll

Hmm, I don't really agree tbh. If you are expressing an opinion that isnt the party line, it can be in breach of your initial contract, never mind social media policy.
That said, the employer has a duty to let the staff member know what their stance is on social media. In America, practically every organisation has a SM policy in place and we are slow to catch up over here.
That said, as an employee, I would protect my job in the first instance by checking if I was allowed to discuss my org. Remember, you are not anonymous on-line and every organisational mention is tracked by the marketing / PR departments. You might think "they'll never see this" but they do. Every little mention of their company is alerted back to them. it's the nature of the beast of the t'intewebs.Earn £10 a day JAN: £92.23 / £310 :j ...............NSD Jan 2/10

We still have freedom of speech in the UK, sorry but yes an opinion is perfectly acceptable - especially as we're speaking about "blind" employees - i.e. they are not exactly shouting from the rafters where they work!one_hot_minute wrote: »That said, the employer has a duty to let the staff member know what their stance is on social media. Yep, I agree with this - MBNA is the most recent to start sacking staff for speaking on here! Hmmm, i'd love to see them try and sack someone like me that would throw the rule book at them and have the likes of ACAS working for my rights. They simply cannot have you for gross misconduct because unless it is a specified term in your EOC they would lose this argument, nonemoreso for the fact the info you are giving is not privvy to you in that role, i.e. the rates or basic charges info - it is freely available.one_hot_minute wrote: »That said, as an employee, I would protect my job in the first instance by checking if I was allowed to discuss my org.
Of course you can discuss them - on an "anonymous" internet forum.one_hot_minute wrote: »Remember, you are not anonymous on-line and every organisational mention is tracked by the marketing / PR departments. I agree with this, I have seen it in action - however it still does not make the anonymity any clearer, the site admin (i.e. MSE) will never breach their own DPA rules so unless the bank marketing team are pretty psychic or colluding with internal fraud and abuse (governance) they would never locate the member of staff - unless of course the staff used their real details in which case granted, the bank/employer may twist things with a good solicitor.
My point is and will remain that no matter who you work for you are entitled to an opinion, so long as it is factual and not libellous. The difference being letting out secrets which half the bank staff on her, don't know about anyway!2010 - year of the troll

sorry by the way I do agree with you - the banks are too heavy handed with staff, i'm just counter arguing the finer points of what should be right and wrong!

Some are genuinely too scared i am sure, and maybe a few are spending their time on other things like thinking how they are going to justify the extraordinarily unexpected bonuses they have received this month to their families.
Best regards, SW.
too scared of what or whom, you sticking your tongue out simply because someone works for a financial institution or is it just bankers you dislike?
I didn't realise that you had to disclose your occupation before being allowed to post on this website.0
