Nice to see that other people agree with me, normally I'm lynched when I *ahem* suggest getting work instead of poncing off the benefits. :TBe happy, it's the greatest wealth0 -

It's not the tax payers tab to pick up and one ofyou needs to work full time, not a measly few hours a week.
I have written a response a few times for this thread and stopped myself posting as probably more a discussion.....
back in the olden days (pre tax credits) people supported themselves, I had a workshy husband who would have quite happily sat on benefits and had one child (now grown up) as I could not afford to have more...normally worked 2 jobs as apart from child benefit all you had was what you earnt.
not sure if I should call them the good old days but people certainly had more of a work ethic and the country was not in such a financial mess
Fast forward a few years and have been fortunate never to have needed any help from state and workshy ex is living his dream on benefits
I would like to cut my hours by a day but would never expect someone else to pay me to do so0 -

roflmao - nah, kahunga's would be 'balls' if you've ever ventured outside the UK
I do however, feel that encouraging someone to get a job to provide for their family is extremely helpful.0 -

Why is 'telling it as it is' considered being rude? If you have an issue with a poster, and you think they are rude, can you not man up and speak to the poster involved, or if you really think it is OT, then use the report facility?0 -

if i knew what man up meant im sure i could try it....telling it like it is is sharing your stance on a matter and what your opinion is...doesnt mean your correct....onwards and upwards0 -
Never said anybody's opinion was correct......please don't put words in the mouths of others.0

'remember it's the system, not the recipient...'
So true, and don't the government just love all the workers squabbling among themselves about who's ripping off who?!

The system is flawed, it was designed to be flawed.
Precisely, and with hundreds of thousands more about to join the dole queue (aka Tory cuts), coincidental timing that cuts to welfare will result in all the (even more) unemployed scrabbling about for the lowest paid jobs, which the bosses can now make sure are even lower paid, thanks to the increased competition for them.
Who wins? Not the unemployed for sure. All over the place, from the popular culture to the propaganda system, there is constant pressure to make people feel that they are helpless, that the only role they can have is to ratify decisions and to consume.0
