Went in today and the woman on the till would only scan one of my BOGOF items, and that said that if she put another one through then i would get it for free! grr! Thats the point!

If only she knew how much she was messeing up stock control systems.

And if it's being advertised as buy-one-get-one-free, then that's what you are entitled to, no matter what price it's reduced to.

(If a cashier does that in Tesco you can get all your money back and keep the items - it's part of their promise.)
  • I've had a strange experience with this kind of offer
items were £2 each, or 2 for £3
I got 2 reduced items (£1 ea) & the new girl on the till tried to charge me £3!
I patiently explained that 2 x £1 = £2,but she said "if you buy 2 then its £3 cos thats the offer"
I put them through separately, and pmsl laughing all the way home

The friendly assistant manager at my local co-op actually sent me back to the shelves to get another packet of lasagne a month or so back so that I could get them for a grand total of 1p. He told me he'd just done it too!!!

THought it was a one off but will be paying much more attention now! :)

Assistant at Sainsbury's was busy reducing giant prawns on Monday. Cost was originally £4.50 a pack - buy 2 get £4 off. He reduced them to £2.50 each, and pointed out happily to customers that if they bought 2 they would get the brace for £1. Which I did. £9 worth of prawns for £1. VERY happy DH and cat :D

Im so please to see this thread s I may ask a question
Our loca Somerfield (a brand new store) reduces things with a yellow printed sticky label that is places of the items barcode. This yellow sticky label has a new barcode printed on it which the cashier scans the item by.
Will the 2 for £2 offers still work on this (e.g. buy to packs of mice even throught now rtc to 50p) still take the additonal discount off even thought the product is not its original price.
Hope im making sence. Thr somerfields in town doesnt use these stickers just hand written ones but this is a brand new store.

There's a very friendly member of staff in my local co-op who points out such bargains to me. At times I've picked up reduced items & she has noticed them in my basket & said to put them back as she is just about to reduce them further. :D
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

TBH I doubt it, as in my experience the more recent computer progs incorporate a routine to avoid this. On the other hand, if the label says 'but 2 save £4' (as in my example above) you have a legitimate basis for complaint if the £4 or whatever is not taken off - unless there is a great big disclaimer sign for reduced items, as there is in some stores. :o

  • I do this regularly for the Chicken in the Co-op wait till they reduce it to about 1pound, I get two, and it works out at something like 20p, i dont know how it works but i dont complain.

Ive noticed alot of their Meat lines used to be Buy Two for ....., but now they are something difference which means its harder for me to apply this Rule. I did wonder if anyone else knew about it

All offers still apply to reduced items in Somerfield, as long as they scan the special reduced barcodes (and don't just type the amounts in manually, as can happen if the reduced barcodes aren't printed legibly).
