How many did you view before you found the right house. Can't offer at sort of prize for the most viewings, but at least I'll feel better after viewing 17 and not finding one yet! :rotfl:

We've seen around 25 and have just put an offer in on one which is probably going to be rejected as vendor seems to be holding out for the asking price, so I expect there are going to be a few more viewings yet. And we're looking in the Midlands whilst living in Yorkshire, so I'll be glad when we find somewhere...3-6 Month Emergency Fund #14: £9000 / £10,0000

Our family UK home...about three, can't remember really, it was in 1976.
Our investment property - two (saw a really grotty house and realised we could buy a really nice apartment for the same money. Knew the block of apartments where we wanted to buy and found one the following day).
Our Spanish house (where we live now) - four(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -

Yes, anything we 've bought has had to 'speak to us'.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Around 10-12 I think, over a period of nearly a year. As 7-dayweekend says, I think you should get a certain feeling that it's 'right'. Trust your judgement. If you walk away having to talk yourself into it, it's probably not the right property for you.0

Last time about 30, this time 6.
Completely agree about knowing the second you walk through the door.0 -
about 20 last time and ...20 this time!
There were the 'no way', the 'I need to have a shower after being in there' ones, the 'if only it were in a different location/didn't a tiny garden/double yellows and the local market outside' ones and the ones we just missed out on.
Either that or I'm very fussy!
Mind you this one we're buying needs a new kitchen and bathroom but has a lovely garden and ticks practically every other box.
Yes, you will know when you've seen the right house, it just might take awhile but you do get a better idea of what to ask to view after the first 15... ;-)The cells are my friends...<img>0 -

One!
We knew what we were looking for, put house on market, sold and fingers x'd going through with it at the moment. Wrong way round I know, but hope it all works out coz its great. First priority for us was secondary school catchment area, second was big garden, third was 4 bedrooms. Other criteria didn't really match, but our top 3 did. Luckily it felt like home as soon as we walked into it to view it. I think you do know....
Our first house was a new build - first priority was the area then second was 3 bedrooms which narrowed things down a lot! We only viewed 2 areas and then only 2 houses when we knew the area we wanted.
You'll know when you see it....just remember its your things that make it your home. Make a list of priorities like we did - if it ticks the main ones and the rest you can live with then fine...a lick of paint, your own comfy sofa, and your own bed will make any house your "home".xxx0
