Hello, try the NH Hotel in Budapest. Stayed there last October. Reasonable rates for a fantastic hotel. Well located. Has a gym.

Try the Victoria Hotel https://www.victoria.hu or bid via Priceline (I recently got the Mariott 4 star for £50 a night).

As for things to see and do, a visit to the castle and thermal baths/spas are a must. The nightlife is pretty good too. There is a good little booklet which you can download here

I can definitely recommend the Marriott. I went to Budapest for New Year and got the Marriott through Priceline for £42 per night inc taxes.

Bf just been to Budapest and loved it....aparently very cheap if you choose carefully and thermal baths to die for.

Buy a tram pass thing when you arrive so save getting fines.
