Nikon doesn't have sensor cleaning and from what I've read, Canon are better at higher ISO speeds for noise.

And from what I've read/seen the opposite is true.

The noise control on the D50 is near legendary at ISO1600...

However, I tend to agree withmost here that the biggest difference is how it feels inn your hand, whichever you pick you'll get great performance out of.

Seems like the Canon 350D has less noise.

And from the graphs it seems the Canon 350D has less noise at ISO 1600. :)

You should pop over to www.dpreview.com for loads of info on all digicams, probably the highest regarded digicam site on the internet and its BRITISH :T

    Canon 350d

    Nikon d50

I had been looking at the same two along with Olympus e500 and samsung GX1L - all excellent cameras, but I just cant bring myself to a DSLR when it is going to be so expensive in the long run with needing to buy quality lenses and all that bulk. Personally I am awaiting reviews on Panasonics FZ50, I already own the mighty FZ20 and this just seems a better natural all-in-one progression for myself. IMHO of course

Thanks mate, the noise levels are very low. :) Will definitely pick a 350D this November.

How do you find the viewfinder? I'm so used to using the screen to compose my shot. :A

what made you go for that over the nikon d50 (if you looked at it)?
i can't decide between the two.

The nikon seems to excel in portrait shots the stuff I like to shoot rarely involves people. the sample shots were good and it felt nice but the canon just seems to be more what I am looking for. I will have to go back later in the year and compair the 400d and the d80 and see which one Is better for me then, I have plenty of time to decide before December. and to save up.

What lens is available for the 350d that would give equal to 20X telephoto, & what price. Same for 10X.
    Nice to save.
