Aha! Rivalling the d80 i presume?
Off to research it. If only I can find a review comparing the two.
Nikon doesn't have sensor cleaning and from what I've read, Canon are better at higher ISO speeds for noise.

Canon 400D has only been announced today (24 August) so should see reviews/comparisons appearing on web sites over next few days.

Canon are usually fairly quick in getting product onto market after announcement, so I would expect to see reasonable supplies In UK shops within a month or thereabouts.

In the meantime retailers may well offer some great deals on 350D as they seek to clear their shelves before the arrival of the new 400D model.

that's interesting.. the 400D looks like a nice option for beginner/intermediate music photographers - the reason most music photographers are canon users is their much better capabilities at low light levels..

I'm very happy with my camera at the moment, it's the most comfortable of the ones I've tried by far.. but one day the time will come when I want to upgrade - the problem with olympus is that there isn't a higher model for more serious photographers yet. Canon have models for all price ranges..

The whole argument re 350D v. D50 I think comes down to personal choice. They are both fantastic cameras. I went through agony over which one to get, I ended up opting for the D50 because it felt much more comfortable when I held the camera. I fould the 350D to be too small.

However saying that, many people have been more than happy with the 350D.

The 350D is available with 2 lenses at digital depot for £469 + £8.90 delivery. The 2nd lens is a Kodak branded 80-210mm.

  • Some good deals going on lately. I don't know if I should wait till Xmas to buy one. :( I'm hoping the prices will drop even further around November...

I would wait, the 400d is expected to be released in November so if you want the 350d end of october would be the better time to buy as they will be getting really desperate to get shut of them.

I was planning to buy a 350d in december having played with one they are brilliant I just hope the 400d feels as nice in the hands as that.
