Don't forget people. If you're buying it on pay as you go, go through cashback sites to the apple store to get cashback :)

EDIT: TCB is now saying they won't give cashback on iphone 4!!!! cheeky !!!!!!s

You don't ever get any cashback on newly released iPhones lol
not sure if the pricing was posted already

Yup we had the news the second it was leaked earlier http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=33774903&postcount=873

Does anyone know at what time tomorrow you can preorder from previous experience?
    Is it like midnight tonight?

The ipad pre-order was around 1am, rumours suggest 8am though

  • Hi everyone, I've been following this thread for a few days, I'm an iphone virgin but have had various contracts with Orange since the days of Everyday 50. My current contract ended a couple of months ago and I've since been waiting for the iphone 4 to be released, with the original intention of getting a cheaper 3GS - but have been sucked in by the hype and now want the new one! I'm a bit reluctant to leave Orange after all this time, but based on the leaked tariffs Vodafone looks to be a cheaper option for my needs (£35 per month, 300 mins, £149 iphone).

If I phone Orange tomorrow and say I'm going to leave to go to Vodafone, what do you reckon are the chances of them matching the Voda tariff? Is it possible to negotiate on iphone tariffs or will they stick rigidly to the pricing structure, regardless of customer loyalty etc? Also what's the situation with my PAC code, can I get it from Orange and then decide not to use it if I decide to stay with them?

    Any advice appreciated!

Yorkshirelass - you have asked everything i am considering. Everyday 50 - them were the days.
I'm not keen to leave orange but will do if either O2 or vodafone or even Tesco offer something better.
Not sure they'll be room for negotiation though. Reckon prices are fixed for 1st six months at least

Why reluctant to leave? Loyalty counts for little nowadays unless they give you a very good deal which I doubt.

I don't think they'll match any other operators tariffs and will try to convince you there's something unique about their tariffs.

You can get your PAC from orange, if you don't use it you'll continue in contract with them until you cancel. You have 30 days to use your PAC

i'm just one of life's unlucky people... haha!! i will either pre-order tomorrow to find out that there are better deals available on wednesday... or i will wait til wednesday to find that there are no better deals available and that there's no more stock left to pre-order!

everyone should announce everything at the exact same time!

Thanks - it's not just loyalty for loyalty's sake, in ten years I've never had a single problem with Orange (my broadband is another story! :() and they've always offered me excellent deals to stay with them. I've also built up quite a few 'magic numbers' (unlimited free minutes) which I assume I could keep on an iphone tariff.

Having said all that maybe there is also an element of being set in my ways! :)

Having seen your sig its nice to see you can afford to pay out for overpriced gadgets.

Not that you know any of my circumstances, Perhaps I should point out that I have been working many many hours of overtime, Paying 50% as an ontop payment to my IVA (as per the terms of my IVA) and keeping the other half towards buying an iphone.

I do hope that is satisfactory with yourself.

Not sure if they'll let you keep magic numbers etc or make you stick rigidly to the contracts on offer- maybe anyone who bought a 3GS iPhone on orange can confirm.

I also remember the days of everyday 50. It was very good if you used phone in evenings to call orange mobiles or landlines but expensive for other calls. I was with orange from 1998-2004 but been with o2 since and very happy with service reception broadband etc.

I would now go for the provider that gives a good deal on data and has the cheapest overall cost for the iphone, be that on PAYG or contract. However, i have a feeling that prices will be quite similar
