Our Lidl has organic chicken sometimes & organinic veg. I am sure, but will be off to check later.
Good quality food for the price overall at Lidl, I think. When you first go its all strange, foreign brands but after a couple of weeks they are familiar brands. Christmas goodies are excellent. The full german range of yummies! CAnt wait for my annual intake of speculatis (?) biscuits!....another happy bug.........sorry,blogger embracing the simple life0 -
The readymade lasagne in the chiller cabinet in Lidl is excellent only about two quid (at most) and feeds my lot with salad. As is the all purpose oxi cleaner (blue liquid in big bottle), we like the baked beans aswell, some nice meat in the freezer aswell, spicy pork chops, peppered steak all very reasonable.0

I have to say I prefer Aldi over Lidl.
I've just got back from Lidl and found the experience, compared to Aldi, a bit of an ordeal. The half price veg is good but, at least with my local stores, Aldi is far easier to get around. Better lay out, All the products are in English, rather than squeezed down to the small print, there's far more "healthy option" choices and the prices did seem to be far lower (perhaps by only 10p here or there but it adds up). Their weekly bargains are also fantastic (recommend signing up for the email).
Aldi have also recently started doing a small selection of organic produce.0 -
A friend of mine uses Lidl as her son is ADHD aand apparently Germany doesn't allow as many additives as us in their food. So cheaper and better for us!"grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change, the courage to change the one I can and the wisdom to know it's me"

Well, there's one at Clapham Junction...and its right next door to Asda.:D
I don't think it gets much better than that for a duo of supermarkets!;)

Can only find an Aldi near here but will definitely give them a try.
Wondering about Iceland. I was told ages ago that their prices are very good - does anyone recommend ?
I use Tesco online mainly - was thrilled to recently discover the vouchers blog mentioned in the forums - been using them if possible every time I do my shop now (http://tescocodes.blogspot.com/ ) - pays for the delivery charge and some!
I find shopping online a good way to budget. If total is looking a bit extravagant I cut down accordingly before confirming checkout - which is not possible when you're at the supermarket with a queue behind you and your total is far more than you expected! You can also do your weekly shop sitting down with a cup of tea (or glass of wine) and save on those petrol costs0 -
Lidl has a better selection of fresh meats and deli meats, but I prefer Aldi for dry and tinned/packet goods.I have a cunning plan!
Proud to be dealing with my debts.0
