Rotten chicken from Aldi in Leicester

A warning to anyone who shops at the Leicester (woodgate) store. I bought fresh chicken yesterday morning and after the shop returned home ( so no more then an hour out of the fridge and it was not that hot yesterday here )
I put the chicken straight into the fridge and as the sale by date was 30th I was planning to eat it tonight roasted.

I took it out of the packaging and it stank to high heaven, when picking it up it was actually a kind of blue/green colour underneath and was slimy and really evil looking.

I have thrown it away as I am not giving it houseroom. I will call the store when they return to the office on Tuesday to advise that they might have a problem but until then I wanted to advise people to double check.

Similar thing happened to me once, however since then l am paranoid about chicken, forever smelling it during preparation, the cooking and serving.

The sig is not really from anything( but love the cartoon) other then an argument at work about faith and believing in god or not as the case might be.

why did you throw the chicken away? Aldis are open on sundays you could have returned it and I am sure they would have replaced it or given money back.
I bought a chicken on a thursday and when i went to cook it on sunday the inside was - lets just say full of chickens***t! I took it back - the assistant took one look and asked if i wanted replacement or refund. I said replacement and she immediately replaced it and asked if I wanted to check it was ok instore. I did and the bird was fine! left the store happy and we all had a nice meal.
so why bin it and then go complain on monday???? take it with you - Aldi may be grateful to know what the problem is?

Something seems a little fowl about Aldi. Just pluck up the courage and complain. It maybe gobbledy to them but that was your dinner!

Why did I throw it away > Because it stank, Aldi might be open tomorrow but I have other things to do and I have no intention of going back to the store to replace a £3.00 chicken that would cost me more in petrol and time off. I am going to call the store and let them know and then leave it at that.

Please let health and safety know. It sounds like a spot check by them wouldn't be out of order.

    It ALDI for goodness sake.

If it was a proper shop it would be worth complaining

As far as I'm aware Aldi is a 'proper' shop, just because things are cheaper doesn't mean its any less credible.
