If you stream HD media then gigabit makes a difference
trust me,I have the PS3 and 360
It can stutter on the 360 but be fine on the PS30 -
If you have a look in the Xbox dashboard, there's around half a dozen videos from E3 about the new 360 and the Kinect.Dave. :wave:0

I do stream HD media, all the time. It worked fine on the 50mbit or so my homeplugs provided me. It of course depends on the bitrate of the file, but I've never experienced problems. HD media will never even approach 100mbit in bitrate terms, so I'd imagine something else is the problem when streaming to your 360.They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0 -

how large are the files you are streaming?0 -
The highest bitrate Bluray's are around 40mbit (not megabytes) this would technically stream on a decent wireless connection (only tested HD-DVD's personally, worked fine). Agree with the above poster, that 100 full duplex is perfectly adequate for all HD streaming, though there maybe other factors affecting the poster who experienced problems.0

They vary, anything up to 20GB.
Bluray's technical maximum total bitrate, audio video and all other streams, is 54mbps. If you're streaming it from one server to more than one machine at a time, I can see why it'd need gbit, but for a streaming client, 100mbit is technically plenty.
As has been mentioned, there are other things that can affect it, but those are problems with cabling, switches, hubs, routers etc, and not the 360 only having a 100mbit nic.
It DOES seem odd that they didn't put a gbit nic in it, just for the numbers war aspect of it. It wouldn't have increased the price significantly, and for people who simply compare numbers it'd look good. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0 -

well I can only go on my experience
Gbit PC with a direct cable ot the 360 = stuttering
same to the PS3= no issues
Im not saying on all files,as the 360 plays loads but there are files that cause stutters
I now have a Gbit router and the same files cause the issue on the 360
its not a codec issue as the files are transcoded on the PC
theres no mention of the capabilities of the new 360,so im assuming its not Gbit but who knows maybe it is0 -
My 85Mb homeplugs failed with 'some' HD content whilst my 200Mb ones have been fine so far with what ive tested:idea:0

The PSP version was supposed to be a launch title for the PSP but only came out last year (i think)
Well, Sony have confirmed Gran Turismo 5 for PS3 is out in the US on 2nd Nov 2010. UK release date yet to be confirmed, but maybe by Christmas?

Back to my dilemma: What to choose? Xbox 360 or PS3? All i will be doing is playing games on it, so i know the Xbox is the logical (i.e. cheaper) choice. But now i ask myself if i should get the slimline 360!!! Not to mention the PS3 exclusives. Confused!
EDIT: Also, the rumoured PS3 price drop that was supposed to be revealed by Sony at this year's E3 expo was not announced in their press conference, so it looks like the PS3 price will remain the same!0 -
To be honest, im really tired of GT
I used to love them all, but its all a bit 'samey' now. Im really hoping theyve made HUGH differences to the 'prologue' that was released:idea:0
