Hi,
Just wanted to say thanks.
My brother told me last night how great the site was so I decided to take a look today and yours was the first post that I read. It's giving me the push I need to do something about my own situation. It'll probably take me a little while to learn about all the features of the site but I'm going to try and do something each day.
Step 1: join the site and make a public declaration of intent. (its a start, I suppose)

No need to thank me
.
No matter who we are on here or where we are from we all have the one thing in common, we are in debt and we are here because we want to do something about it (with the exception of those who have been here a long time, in which case we have been in debt and have done something about it).
There is so much information on this site, but I think the thing I've taken most from this site and the thing that has motivated me the most is the the support and encouragement of the individuals that make this site what it is.Present Day / 22nd May 2010

Monthly update.
2 months in now.
This month has been really tough and it's never as straight forward as it seems. You sit down and work out how much you will be able to pay each month and how long it will take, then something breaks or goes wrong and it throws your calculations out of the window.
We've had a very bad finacial month and have not managed to pay off anywhere near as much as last month but I guess on the up side we have paid off some rather than accumulating more.
This month...
£378.01 has been paid off the credit cards and loans.
At present we are looking at the end of the month to see if we can afford to pay off any more from the credit cards. Why ???. I'm going to pay off an additional £100 from the highest rated credit card each month at the start and then see how much we can afford to pay at the end of the month. We got some catching up to do.
I think if you give yourself less money to work with you have no choice but to get by. Trying to keep a tight leash. Not tight enough and the dog gets away.

Hello, I just wandered across your diary this morning and have been reading when I've had a minute since!
I wanted to say I'm impressed with how well you are doing, especially giving up the ciggies which can't be easy. I like your projected dates 'diary' as well: what a good idea to have those milestones to focus on.
Are you and your other half able to plan a few MS treats to aim for? It might take some of the pressure off, also the temptation to slip up in what you spend, if you have something nice not too far in the future.Miggy
