Hi, I am looking for an advice. I purchased my brand new toyota aygo with free roadside assistance. Its was free for the first year. Now this roadside assistance is about to expire. I've got a letter from toyota club asking me to renew it for £59. Do I really need one? My car is still under warranty as it's only 1 year old. What I have to do if my car is broke down and I do not have this roadside assistance cover? Do I have to call toyota dealer? What I can do if something happens like flat tyres, flat batteries or anything like this??? I am not a car expert so I am not sure.

This is where part of the driving test should include these basic checks.

Roadside Assistance covers the repair/recovery to a garage of your car if you break down - a warranty doesn't provide this. Whilst a year old car probably won't break down I wouldn't like to be left stranded if it did!

£59 a year isn't terrible because it's probably a fairly comprehensive package however shop around and see what kind of quotes you can get from RAC/AA/Green Flag/etc.

Some car insurance providers offer a good deal on cover too when bundled with car insurance.

Who I can call if my car is broke down but I do not have a roadside assistance cover?? My car is only 1 year old so its still under toyota warranty. Who I can call if my car is broken down? Toyota dealer??? Today I had a puncture in my tyre and I was fortunate as I had a spare one in my car. I managed to change the tyre without calling roadside assistance. I am a female driver so I asked my mate to do it for me. What I can do if my car is broken down?

Pay for it to be recovered - this is what roadside assistance is to protect against

Pay for the roadside assistance or something better.

I just checked my comprehensive unsurance policy and its doesn't include road rescue.

Pay it or join something like the AA or the RAC, it's worth the small cost for the peace of mind.

£59 sounds cheap if it's typical of manufacturer provided cover and it includes everything like relay, home start, etc. Obviously you need to check the details of the cover to determine whether it's good value or not!

£59 if you pay by direct debit. £63 if not.:(
