The listing isn't hard to understand at all. What the seller is doing is using ebay to advertise that they have lots of chairs, tables etc. They are trying to avoid fees by some sort of direct contact, i.e. someone interested buys one then they arrange to sell more off ebay.
You can't expect to get chairs of that quality for 60p.
And yes, I can think of an organisation which would spend £500 per chair. The Civil Service procurement department.0 -
Just ask for a cancellation of the sale due to unclear listing. I bet they pay more than £500 per chair at No 10 around the cabinet table.0

Its badly worded even the title is misleading with "chairs". I do think its obvious they only want to sell individually but they have not done the wording or auction correctly see lower down on this page.

They don't want to pay the fees i agree.
Why not report the listing for fee avoidance it will most likely be pulled so not worries about a non payment strike. The report button is on the listing.0 -
The title is the only misleading thing in it. Of course it's obvious they want to sell individually, the clue is "Items are priced for individual sale".
It's also questionable whether ebay will agree, as the intention is veiled. But worth a try if the seller turns awkward.0 -
"Cabinet table" is just misleading, is it a cabinet or a table?;)Just ask for a cancellation of the sale due to unclear listing. I bet they pay more than £500 per chair at No 10 around the cabinet table.
Regarding the listing, I think it is fairly clear, looks like they are new at listing and didn't make it clear enough rather than anything else, its a fairly rookie mistake.
The 'number of items per lot' bit seems to have disappeared from anywhere useful on the listings these days, but don't get me started on that one!.0 -
Maybe the clue lies in the fact that they 'revised' the listing, twice!
Perhaps when you intially read the listing it wasn't so obvious that the winning bidder only got one chair? They may have had a message asking for clarification as to numbers, and then edited the listing.0 -
Its only possible to revise the initial text before getting any bids, so always wise to check again before bidding.pseudopensioner wrote: »Maybe the clue lies in the fact that they 'revised' the listing, twice!

I agree, however, if the OP saw and was watching the original listing (and it wasn't made obvious that it was for one item only) they may not have been knowledgeable enough to check that the item description had been revised.
It 'appears' that OP has only one previous successful purchase and that may excuse their lack of foresight.0
