Thank you Pen, that makes sense.
I will give it a go and see if it can shift the limescale.
I tend to use cider vinegar in Preserves or white wine vinegar as they also seem to be on offer at my local supermarketThere is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;

Ahh more acidic, wonder if doing a slightly higher vinegar to water mix might help ?

I just bought red wine vinegar from Approved Food at a very cheap price, can I use it for cleaning? I like it in salads so not complaining but will it work to descale the toilet? Thank you.Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0

Hi Gothicfairy,
To remove limescale from a shower head just soak it in neat vinegar for an hour or so (either malt or white), rub with a cloth, rinse and then clean as you normally do. I had tried all sorts to get rid of the limescale from mine and couldn't believe how easily the vinegar got rid of it. Don't throw away the vinegar after you've used it as it will keep for next time you need it for descaling.
There is more advice in this thread that may help:

I'll add your thread to that one later to keep the suggestions together.

Hi
We need to descale our showerhead and also the limescale that has gathered around the taps on the sinks in the kitchen (stainless steel) and bathroom (ceramic). Can someone please tell me if there is a more natural way I can make a concoction to do this rather than pay for a bottle of chemicals? I dont have a steam cleaner at the moment though.
ThanksFailure is only someone elses judgement.
