  • Hi, I'm completely new to this whole forum thingymibob so please forgive if I've posted in the wrong bit or this questions already been answered (I have searched!)

My council flat was recently renovated with a new Kitchen & Bathroom :j
& only ever having a bath before, they had a Mira Advance Thermostatic ATL Electric shower installed...while I've cleaned the tiles etc I've never thought about about the shower head!

My boyfriend was staying over & happened to notice there were black spots on the rubber bits where the water spray comes out. Some rubber bits are blocked too so the waters not coming out.
It has a twisty grip around it to change the force of the spray which I've taken off & discovered more mould/limescale/black bits inside - this I've managed to clean with a toothbrush & antibac hand gel/soap (although it's still stained abit) but I haven't the foggiest how to clean the wee rubbery nodules...has anyone got any ideas. He suggested sticking a pin in the bits but I'm not sure thats a good idea...
  • for the rubbery bits whilst running the water rub them with you hand and they come out.
Money, Money, Money ..... Banks/Casinos/Bookies give me all you money its a poor mans world....
  • Can anyone tell me a really good way of cleaning a plastic shower head. It is starting to get bunged up with lime scale (live in a hard water area).

Also, whats the best way of cleaning metal taps - the bit the water comes out of as this two has lime scale on it.

    Thanks in advance

for cleaning the bathroom taps i soak cotton wool in white vinegar and wrap it around the tap for a couple of hours - or longer ,
then take off sokaed cotton wool - and it should be much better :)
  • I tried Limescale in the search and it came back with nothing which I am sure can't be right so sorry if this has already been done to death.

I am trying to clean the limescale off my showerhead and have read that white vinegar and water would work best but I only have Malt so I was wondering what really is the difference.

Hubby say's colour is the only difference but that would seem silly( I am really hoping he is not right as I don't need him any smugger)

I really can't get White vinegar as I have nothing left in the budget till next month but the shower is so bad now that we are playing a form of dodge ball with the jets.
I do have denture tables (for tea stains) and baking/ bicarb etc

So what would work best and can I just use the rough vinegar ?

    Any help would be great

Malt vinegar has organic impurities in that are left behind when the white vinegar is purified :)

You can use malt vinegar for all cleaning purposes; I only ise white vinegar when I want a light colour in a preserve ;)
