iPhone 3GS price drop?
Hi all,
As most of you will be well aware, the world is expecting a new iPhone to be announced at next month's WWDC.
Last year, with the introduction of the 3GS, came a price reduction of the then current 3G.
Do you think we will have the same situation this year with the 3GS? I'm asking this because your answers or opinions will help me decide whether or not to sell my 3GS now before the current retail price of £449 drops (if it does) therefore affecting re-sale values.
what would you do?!

I'd sell it now whilst the going is good- the introduction of the new iPhone will likely reduce the value of your phone.

My prediction is the 4G will come in at the 3GS's price point.
The 3GS will drop to the 3G price point.
The 3G will be wiothdrawn and go for refurb / repairs / etc.
Apple generally do not sell hardware at sale prices they prefer to withdraw it and keep prices the same. Remember Apple is a premium brand, and it does it no good brand wise to be discounted in sales.0 -
The price of a new 3GS is already dropping in the US:

I think thats more moving to the new pricepoint early. Theres no indication what has happened to the 3G (or if Wal Mart stocked it)0 -

No it didnt the 16gb was dropped but the 8gb 3G remained the same price £350.
I think its more likely the 16gb 3gs will remain at £450 and the new 4G 16gb version will go up to a new £500 starting price.
Those price drops in the US are for contract phones with AT&T on a 24 month contract.0 -
Well, I guess I should get a move on selling then!0

Can I just point out something?
"the world is expecting a new iPhone to be announced"
I (as part of the world) am neither expecting nor interested.
However if you wish to sell something for a decent price, logic would suggest you do it before an all new singing and dancing version appears
I am not expecting/waiting/interested0 -
Its a done deal just need to choose a colour :rotfl:0
