why not tell him you're feeling a little strapped and ask if he can get you some cash in hand work, then you'll have some evidence

I don't think you have enough evidence to report him

If the time came when you were sure, i would certainly say go ahead and make the phonecall.

Benefit Cheats is a mild term. They are thieves, fraudsters and criminals. I worked for years paying into the system, now claim IB IS and DLA. Every pennt I claim is claimed legally. The country struggles to support us as it is. Fraudsters are taking money from those who can least afford it......and the bill goes to hard working tax-payers!

If it's a council tax benefit issue it will be local authority fraud investigators, not DWP.

Report him. You don't need to be sure. The council will check their records and if they don't know about the income they will decide whether to investigate. They won't rely on your word for it - you will just be giving them a start. Saying it's for essentials like food is like saying shoplifting is OK if you don't earn much. Tell them you suspect the company as well and they will decide whether to refer it on to HMRC.

I pay a lot of tax and I am happy that we pay benefits to people who really need them. I don't like 'cheats' - they are as other posters have said, thieves.

The money YOU paid in was used to pay for claimants in those years, your benefits are being paid by those who pay tax etc now.

To describe benefit cheats as thieves and criminals is abit harsh, especially when in 2008 benefit fraud cost the country £700 million whilst tax evasion/avoidance cost £10.5 BILLION,in the same year £5BILLION in benefits went unclaimed, some of it no doubt because genuine claimants were put off by the risk of being called thieves by the likes of you even when they were genuine, all because you dont know all there is to know about every claimant

Alternatively you could just report your suspicions about the company to HMRC. That way you haven't reported your neighbour but if what you suspect is correct the HMRC will limit his ability to defraud the system.

atleast the guy is trying to work and earn himself some money !!!!!!!!

bloody hell, its not like hes going beating up little babies and stealing their money and food!!

Hes on benefits getting paiud a crappy ridiculously low amount of money!
And so hes trying to do something to help himself financially, while at the same time gain work experience and get new skills.

But is only getting paid £800 per month for it, so less than 1/2 of what he would likely need from a salary just to live a basic standard of life!

Why dont you focus on your own life instead of trying to cause problems for others!
    well said :t
