The cashminder card used to be a Visa Electron, on the card it is now a Visa Debit. I asked Co-Op about this and they said it will take until 2011 for it to show as a standard debit card. At the moment it is technically still an electron in disguise.. lol ..

Doesn't work for Tesco online shopping either..

    Or at Kwik Fit.
I have a coop cahminder visa debit card and that works on tesco onlinr grocery store, i placed food order mon and was delivered tues

As there are overdraft restrictions on the account this card will only be accepted at retailers who can complete a real time check for funds

Some internet stores and remote or unmanned terminals (such as petrol pay-at pump and parking meters) cannot support this card because their systems are not able to immediatly check if funds are available in your account

Hi Bat, I know about this but surely the Barclays account is the same as a Cashminder account and it looks like their debit card works with the petrol pay at the pump (or am I missing something) :o

I would also like to know this, because if it is different than mine I am going to request a new card!

Isn't the difference between the 2 basic bank accounts that the Barclaycard isn't, and hasn't been, a visa Electron, whereas the Co-op one was until recently?

This has been covered so many times its getting boring.

    One more time...

Co-Op cards that start 4508 do not work on tesco groceries, p@pump etc.

These cards are Visa Electron cards that co op have stuck a visa debit logo on.

If I have asda red sauce and put a heinz sticker on it, its still asda red sauce.

You can confirm this, next time you get a receipt from chip and pin.

There is a line saying AID

If it is 31010, then it is Visa Debit but if it's 321010 then it's an Electron.

There are hundreds of posts about this already why do people not bother to read the forum.

Barclays cashcard account works because it starts with a genuine visa debit number 4658 i believe, and this account allows p@pump because that is their poilcy. Same for lloyds.

Natwest/RBS visa debits that do not have cheque guanrentee feature don't work either in these places because they have a different policy and block transactions that cant be authorised at the time its going through.
