Like many businesses of this type, your installation will be as good as the team of subcontractors that are used.
Some will be great some will be shoddy.
Personally I'd get a recommendation from someone local and get a small firm in that know who they are employing and how good their work is.0 -
I used to work in double glazing and I was always hearing stories about how safestyle is basically an organised crime ring. They're renowned for threatening people who cancel orders or try to recruit their staff, ripping off canvassers and physically bullying ppl into deals.
You're usually best off with mid sized local companies coz a) they don't have so many overheads to pay and b) they're more likely to have customer service. Although I'm pleasantly surprised to hear that at some branches safestyle will send ppl out to sort out bad jobs.0 -
Would touch. When we had windows done rang around for quote, one of which was safestyle. They took a while to come back, by which time I'd already settled on someone else. When I told the guy on the phone this he completely flew of the handle shouting at me about wasting their time etc....
Safe to say I told he what to do but shows how they treat their customers0 -
What profile do they use..? The Brits love it cheap dont they? cheapest quote gets the job.0

There's horror stories galore on the net. I've just scared myself silly having read some of them. I signed the form yesterday, surveyor coming on Friday.
Agreed on £4100 for 4 large windows, 5 smaller ones, and a uPVC door. Am happy with the price agreed if they're fitted properly. Are there any satisfied customers out there?
I'm trying to tell myself that they're amongst the biggest window companies in the UK so it follows that there'll be a lot of complaints. Right? Right ???::Quidco.com - £1100 in 11 months. Kerr-ching! ::0 -
Are Safestyle the ones who prance round on the telly advert dressed like Pirates? If so, enough said!0
-
Just look at their advert on TV - nuff said!!
One thing is certain, you might think it's a good deal, but it won't be. Windows are cheap. Fitting is £120 per man per day, so when you hand over thousands, you are paying over the top for materials, over the top for labour and over the top for the salesman over the top for the sales managers cut, the owners cut......
Use a small window firm that give you a price per window and cost to fit it and add it all up that way to see how many pockets you are lining with firms like Safestyle.
Agreed, I recently had a local publican mate looking for a new window someone broke...quotes ranged up to 500 quid (apparently it couldn't be fixed0...a customer shouted up that he could do it for her...end cost 60 quid for the window...a few pints for the labour as he wouldn't take money.
You forgot canvassers in your chain of people needing paying by safestyle, and the TV ads ain't cheap.

Try a quote from e-windows.
They came in at less than half the price of the nearest other company - and the windows they fitted were the best windows I have ever seen.
Good locking, they dont steam up, and they feel very substantial. They look fantastic too.
I had my whole house done (9 windows, upstairs all had fire safety full opening - one huge window was safety glass downstairs) for £2500 fitted.
The windows cost £1800, and the fitting was £700.
They only work up as far as birmingham though, so if you live further north sorry!0 -
Following on from post 26...
Had the survery last Friday. Today, a full week later they phone to tell me that they don't want the job.
I knew I'd haggled to a point where there couldn't be a lot left in it for them, but didn't expect them to leave me high and dry. Total waste of time.
Avoid at all costs.::Quidco.com - £1100 in 11 months. Kerr-ching! ::0 -
they were OK - cheaper than I expected. came down with 2 crews in January (a few years ago), went through the house like a dose of salts (20 years old detached house).
I did have a problem with the door a few months ago - they sent a man within a week who fixed it fine.
All in all - less trouble than I thought and less cost - but I did bargain - my best bit was I said - "I like your price, but not enough to give you the work without looking further" - it was already cheaper than another chain. knocked another 10% - 10 windows, 2 doors for £4KI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine0
