35MPH in a 30MPH zone
I have recently passed my driving test and decided to go for a drive down the motorway to visit my mum. As I came off the motorway the road was a 30MPH zone and I was doing 35MPH (ish) and there was a police camera van there.
I bought the car a few weeks ago and the garage has since closed down and I haven't received a log book (I doubt I will now without applying for one due to the garage closing).
What are the chances of me getting a ticket? I read somewhere that the allowance is 10% +1 over. Is that right?

You should have been given the new keepers supplement of the V5. The seller should have sent off the rest of the document with your details to the DVLA. If they have not done that, then the DVLA won't know that you owned the car at the time of the 'offence'. However, it wouldn't take a genius to check the national insurance database for that car, which unless you are very naughty indeed, will show that you have insurance for it, and presumably from what date you have had insurance.
As for allowances, don't bank on it. It says 30mph, not 34mph. In any event, you were doing 35, nearly 17% over the limit.Skip dipper and proud....0 -
The ACPO guidelines are 10% + 2 which puts you in fixed penalty territory but as most speedo's overead you were probably only travelling at 31-32....Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0

Get your docs sorted out asap and then keep your fingers crossed.0

Don't want to sound cruel, but.... how did they teach you to drive during your lessons ? I bet it wasn't 35MPH (ish) ?“That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.”0 -
doubt 35ish will get you a ticket with speedo error. Of course no one else ever goes 1mph over the speed limit on these forumsNothing to see here, move along.0

I love the responses to these types of threads, like all other posters have never gone over a speed limit0

Lol, dont worry about it, just fill in the back saying that you leant the car to John Laden and pull an address out of the phone book and use that on the back of the form.
Think thats job done, i know of a few people that done this years ago and got away with it0 -
My car is fitted with anti speeding device that makes sure that I cannot go over the speed limit.
Its call my son who always points out what speed I am doing.I all have learnt is from others on many sites.
Seek legal help if unsure.
Dont pay Private Parking tickets - they are mere invoices.
