  • If OP has eaten these potatos, they should go immediately to the A&E department of their Hospital and request they have a Peelover Appendage removal operation. They then should be quarantined for our protection

Why do I vaguely remember stories from Ireland where people died/got ill from eating green potatoes many, many years ago?

    perhaps you're stupid dear?

the famine was caused by the potato blight, the potatoes couldn't be eaten at all, and many died of starvation, not just a slightly old potato.

Well thank you for your opinion but I'm pretty sure I'm not. Just because I believe or remember something that someone might have told me in the past does not make me stupid.

Hate to tell you this but if the potato has green parts those parts are poisonous!!! hope you didnt eat them!
if you are taken in to A&E then then likely cause is the potato you have just eaten!

if the potato is sprouting a bit I usually just rub those off. but they ARE a sign the potato is aging a bit. I like mine fresh so buy mine without sprouting bits! which I usually get from my supermarket. if YOUR supermarket always sells potatoes which are sprouting then i would change supermarkets!

I've eaten the green bits on tatties for years. I'm still alive!

Obviously, I like fresh but hate to waste food so will eat them even if they are green and sprouting.

I do tend to cut out the green bits of spuds, but mainly because of their taste / texture. If it tastes OK then I will eat it. I also love to eat spuds raw!:T
