Potatoes delivered from Tesco with burnt-off sprouting 'ears'!!

I had a Tesco home delivery today, and the bag of 2.5kg West Country Potatoes I bought all had sprouted, but then it looked like these sprouts had been burnt off in an attempt to get rid of them??

I'm not sure if i'm allowed to post pictures up, but here is a link to a photo: http://tinypic.com/r/34hfmgz/6

Has anyone experienced this before? Should I just accept them or should I kick up a fuss??

Saw the photos, have you bought potatoes now for the first time ever? because they seem to look normal to me. Or have I been buying strange potatoes before?

    MOVING THREADS FOR BETTER RESPONSES

It's the new potato sprouting burner off machines they now have recently installed in all Tesco fruit and veg. depts.. Tesco have also employed an extra 3000 staff to do the work...they should be commended for this latest initiative.

  • They're normal, fresh potatoes. If you don't like the look, peel them. They're fine.
