Welcome to my first real disaster. This has now had 11 minutes as after 9 the middle was still not done:

So, any uses for wrecked cake?

The recipe says 9 minutes on high. I've a 750W microwave, and this is the result after just over 4 minutes:
Any idea what I might have done wrong?
The dish is as big as that required - 8 inches across and at least 4 pint capacity.
I've not made many cakes in the microwave but the sponge puddings I've have made needed to be covered with clingfilm.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4

Welcome to my world!! EVERYTHING I cook turns out looking like that :rotfl:
Give it to the trick or treaters???0 -
Have a look in a microwave cookbook for a cake with similar quantities and see what their cooking instructions are. I would have thought it might have been better to cook it individually ie sandwich tins (or m/w version)0

Hmm, I don't know what's wrong there, but I'll have a wee go and let you know my results.
I am also going to make one in the oven and decorate in and all, 'cos it's pretty

You don't have to wait!!!! - I don't think one has ever survived past the first evening in this house without half disappearing!“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”
