I just phoned Apple and they said you are wrong.
See how easy it is to type something without a reference?
It doesn't change the fact that what you said is wrong. Maybe you just worded it badly.
The 3G WILL get MOST of the v4 features. Apple will NOT stop supporting the phone. But they WON'T support apps for it.0 -
This thread is about whether someone should buy an iPhone or not.
Not an argument about who "knows the most Apple".
If you can't link to a source from Apple we can all see and make an informed decision about 3G iPhone support for v4.0, bar say you made a phone call, this is just going to end up a slanging match.0 -

Yes, and the discussion mentioned how the iPhone 3G might be an option for the OP. Then someone incorrectly told a load of nonsense which I have corrected.
It has been widely reported (including from the OS4 keynote by Apple themselves) that the 3G will support most of iPhone OS4 features.
There is no slanging match. There is just someone being corrected.
And my advice (to anyone considering an iPhone) would be to wait until the new one is launched.0 -
Functionality, I suppose the edge goes to the Desire, for me, user experience, the iPhone..0

I'm typing this on the desire i purchased two weeks ago, having looked at the iphone. The desire is much more flexible and enables users to configure the device to their own specification. The iphone was ok but the cost eventually made it an easy choice. I think the desire is the best smartphone on the market at the moment. Great apps, good camera and good interface. Android market is catching up quickly and the integration on the device is excellent. Music isn't perfect but its good enough. More accessories would be good but the desire is very easy to use and i would certainly recommend.0

For many the cost of an iPhone will be irrelevent. they want an iPhone and all the trapping that come with it.
Yes it's more restrictive, but it all works together beautifully, from the phone to the apps store to itunes.0
