I know it was over a year ago but when we went in June time last we paid £580 for 6 nights and the flights with BA.

What time of year are you looking at? Xmas and New Year prices are  !!!

I got mine through Lloyds travel service as I got 8.5% off highstreet prices I think. I don't know the cost because the flights were to Hawaii then to New York then home, they were £700 and the Hilton in NY was £350 for 2 nights :)

You can do it a lot cheaper though, flying elsewhere and transfering in America and staying in a hostel.

Great news on the mini lotto win, will you be putting that towards your debt?

Are you able to overpay the loan or do you have to start saving now ?

    Liking the extra payments :T
    MARCH 2016 DEBT £25750/ £25035
EST DFD JAN 2021 (that needs to change)
NOW JAN 2019 (that still needs to change)
  • Everybody seems to have such wonderful family members, it must be such a lovely feeling to have so much support. It must be difficult to pay off the other debts first but definitely better to tackle the higher interest ones.

I'd like to see the Hawaii photos some time, my husband is talking about next year now. Think he is getting carried away, he mentioned New York this year too (he's still jealous that I've been and flew back business with BA). We're not debt free yet...

Yeah I still have money left over so will overpay some on the loan too this month. Maybe only about £300 or something, but will see how my finances are looking towards the end of the month :)

Hawaii was AMAZING! I will post up some pictures here tomorrow for you :)

Okay guys so the numbers have been crunched from this months payments to debts, and despite Hawaii, I've made a significant reduction in the debt this month and hit a couple of milestones. I've managed to clear two of my goals now, the Egg card is gone and instruction to close has been sent and I've gone under £20k at last - so need to think about some new, shorter term goals to see me through to next December :D

    My updated debt diary
    Last update: 04-October-2010

    £383.87 to Lloyds Loan - £17,956.91 @ 14.5% (down from: £18,831.22)
    [STRIKE]Capital One CC - £0 @ 30% (down from: £968.83)[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]£744.81 to Egg Banking CC - £0 @ 21.90% (down from: £943.30)[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Lloyds TBS overdraft - £0 @ 12.3% (down from: £2,000)
    Loan from OH No.1 - £0 @ 0%[/STRIKE]
    £200 to Loan from OH No.2 - £1,600 @ 0%

    Total Debt: £19,556.91

So, what does this mean in terms of my DFD? Well, a quick calculation and my NEW DFD has come out at.... January 2013. Which means I've cut my debt free date by a whole 12 months in just a few months since I've joined this site :D:D:D

Now, I've increased my monthly targeted repayments to £850 as I got a pay rise this month, however, I'm now paying more towards rent and bills so will need to find the right balance.

Anyway, I'm dead pleased with this, join me for a glass of bubbly in celebration :D
