right you know how i have such a deep love for my mobile ... you know how it has always worked and never failed ?

well today i had to phone up o2 once again and give them hell cause the stupid thing is useless ... the guy said to me well lets see if your entitled to an upgrade ... he came back nope your not .... you took out a new contract in july i went eh wit i dinnae think sae son ( i get all scottish wheni get angry lol) ... he said yeah you took out a new on in july it runs out in july 2011 ... well the swear filter wont be able to handle what i said next so i am gonna leave that to your imagination but i do remember getting a call round about july time asking me to take out a new thing with o2 and i said not even if it was the last mobile phone provider on the planet would i touch it .... you couldnt pay me to stay with o2 ... well apparently that actually means i want to stay with them for longer ... so today when i phoned up to try and attempt to get this wonderful ( oh the sarcasm is killing me here) phone fixed i found out all about it ...

my answer was you show me the piece of paper with my signature on it and i will be calling the c.i.d cause some one has forged my signature i was told no it can be done verbally ... to that i replied eh no i dont think so my dear unless saying that even if you were the last provider on the planet is agreeing to a new contract ... hmmm came the reply that is strange ... so i now have to wait two days till they close that contract and then contact them again to get a new phone (not iphone this time thank goodness) and in the mean time i have the phone number of the lovely company that decided to tie me into a longer contract to play with and have fun with ... ahhhhh i'm so gonna kick !!! lol

You can ask for the recording of said conversation- to prove that you didn't renew.

    Go kick some arriss :)

ohh dont worry bob they had all of that and more lol

right quickie run down of holiday money cause this is just getting to be ridiculous now

this is what it cost hubby and myself... not the full cost ... obviously friend halfed in with camping ... but this is just ours

    camping 2 nights £15
    camping 3 nights £40
camping 7 nights £120 (total rip off)
    b&b £55 (one night)
    travelodge £26
    diesel £225
    drayton manor £44
    thorpe park £40
eden project £24 (£8 for me (student) £16 hubby
    heligon gardens £19 ( £10 hubby £9 me )
    spends at heligon £ 56
    food before we left £80
food while there i have honestly not got a clue ..... but it is ALOT
    tshirts (presents £34)
    angel thingy £5 (present)

i cant think of anything else right now but will probably have to update this when i do

i paid for the 7 days camping before we left and the eden tickets and the drayton manor tickets and the food bought before we left
i left home with £500 and lifted another £450 and switched £170 for diesel and things bought at heligon
so total spends would be £1388 ... for a two week camping holiday in the u.k .... that is our last ... i had thought we would spend roughly £1000 and then i still thought that was far too much .... but nearly £1400 nah ... unnacceptable ... it isnt like we ate out every night either ...

now i am back into the over draft that is 18.9% and that has to be fixed ... son has borrowed money from us and that will clear it but he cant give it to me for a while yet ... so i will have to let it run its course and pay the fees .... i am trying to book the whw which is slowly coming together and have been given some money already ... but and here is the cruncher ... there are some people going that currently have no income .... now i know it isnt easy for them and i understand life is hard ... and usually i would pay the deposit and just get it off of them when ever they have it (in drips and drabs of £2-£3 usually) but i dont think i can do this anymore ... well yes i could ... i could go deeper into debt for it all ... but i dont want to ... so what i should say is i am not willing to ....

either way whw deposits will be paid next week ...and the ones i want to go will be there and that is the most important thing

That is some expense for camping...you could've had an AI holiday abroad for a fortnight abroad for less.
Don't blame you not wanting to get in debt for other people over the WHW

  • No wonder you are fed up about it- Britain is a rip off place at times, it doesn't do itself any favours.

no it doesnt ... and the thing is yes we did do stuff like drayton manor and thorpe park eden project and heligon gardens ..but the expensive stuff was things like camping £240 (of which we paid £120) a week to pitch a tent in a field quarter of a mile from a shower block is ridiculous... i dont pay that a week for my mortgage and gas and electricity ... in my house i have two bedrooms i have two bathrooms i have a living room a kitchen fully equipped a dinning room and other rooms ... and yet it cost £240 to pitch a tent in a field far away from a shower block ... i had no kitchen (ok a wee single gas stove thing ... but no kitchen) it cost us £3.50 every time we wanted to wash our clothes (3 times in two weeks) and that was just washing we took a whirly gig to hang them out to dry ....it cost us £1.20 a day to freeze the freezer blocks (and i wonder why i have been ill since i came home ... was the food really cold enough ... eh no )

then there was the food ... we never once went to a resturant ... we did eat take away but that was cause it was cheaper than eating at the tent ..... my friend took tinned hamburgers etc ... but hubby and i cant eat that we need fresh (ish at a push) food ... that wasnt possible due to lack of kitchen ... we bought things in asda and waitrose each day spending a fortune

i am going to florida in april and yes it will cost me alot more ... it is costing me £550 a week for the villa (well mil is paying for it so not actually costing me) but for that £550 i get 6 bedrooms two lliving rooms four bathrooms a 30ft pool with a jacquuzi a games room a kitchen where i can cook food i want instead of having to eat out cause i dont have the facilities to cook... tv internet etc etc etc the list goes on ... the theme parks are costing us £335 each ... yes that is more but that is 28 days worth of theme parks ... the cheapest theme park we had was thorpe park at £40...

i thought going camping would be cheaper ... and in a way it was the b&b we stayed at well ... we had a room with a bed a sink and a shower in it ... we had to share a bathroom with 6 other rooms ... 2010 and you have to share a bathroom in a b&b ... but the hotel we booked for the journey home was cheaper than camping ...

what is britain coming to when it costs that much to go camping for two weeks here ?

    ok rant over

    time to start afresh

Thirty quid a night is about twice the price of a travelodge which is booked far in advance.

If people stopped going camping, prices would soon drop.

Have you never had a trawl around lastminute.com? Sometimes there can be good bargains to be had if you're not all that fussy about where you're going.

Z we booked a travelodge in advance ( a couple of weeks ... It took us till then to deff know we were going with friend having an op) but it came to £52 for the night ... This holidaywas really a one off as it was to help out friend more than it was for us tongi away so we kindve had to put up with alot Of things that normally we would say no to ... Hubby and I would never go to Drayton manor for eg and would never pay tht for camping ( we go wild camping where it's all free)

I think I could sit and get angry about it all ( one of the reasons I think I have taken till now to add it all up tbh) but at the end of the day what's done is done I need to make sure I've learned my lessons and never pit myself in the same predicament again

Last minute has got me many a bargain before ... I look forward to them doing so again

Ohhh mwah by the way for the advice
